Amazing how a few people would have Cross ahead of Prescott or Mossop. Both Paul Prescott and Lee Mossop have been outstanding. Jeff Lima has been in awesome form throughout the season (IMO) and although Andy Coley has been not as consistent as last year, he put in an excellent performance against St.helens last week. In fact, our entire pack was absolutely awesome. Stuart Fielden has said on his twitter he hopes to be back before July - he's just trained too hard. Until we get an official announcement that he is out for a lengthy amount of time I'm still content with the forwards we have - especially now that Hock has returned.

HOWEVER, should it just be a short-term deal until the end of the season and the man has to accept he has to work damn hard to displace Mossop/Prescott/Coley/Lima then I can see some sense in signing him. Props win you pots. Any opportunity to bolster your front row should be taken.

Although the need for a new working permit and the timeframe before Fielden's return should be taken into consideration. However I must say I am all for giving Dom Crosby an opportunity should the need arise.

All I can think of is that Madge sees that he could do a better job at wigan for whatever reason but i wouldn't want him anyway he's a penalty machine and he's dirty.

I think weve needed a bit of a nasty git at times this season but i think Hock may well throw a bit of timber round when he is back so i doubt theres much point in getting him. Its hardly a disaster though if we signed him just for the rest of the season imo.

I don't think we need a 'nasty git'. I'd rather have an honest, hardworking forward that does the hard yards, completes his tackles and is very well disciplined. I'm not interested in players who can throw their weight around. Aggression is welcomed - ill discipline/sh-thouse - no thank you.

I didn't watch the NRL when Cross was still around, but from the game I saw him play against us he was a right pr-ck in the way he tried to rough up Sam Tomkins. An absolute epic fail too I might add.

I dont mean a pure house who just kicks it off all the time, just somebody who could make an impression in the forwards battle and mix it if needed. Just a bit of nastiness when needed not a ticking time bomb



The games against Warrington and Catalans were lost in the pack not having enough imo. They had players throwing their weight around and we couldnt hack it.

Regarding Cross on Sam it was just embarrassing

I watched Cross in the NRL and he was a good prop, run in hard all day long and tackles hard with a high work rate, what more do you want?

He seems off the pace at Leeds but as we have seen Wane and Madge know how to turn decent props into good props, I think Cross could work. Mossop needs to play more games at second row before he is moved to prop full time and Crosby needs to put on a bit more weight, Davies isn't good enough IMO and Prescott has been outstanding for me all season but we need a bit of depth just in case we get an injury to Coley and Fielden has an occurance, we dont have an experienced head at prop.

For me its a goer, if we were interested before he signed for Leeds Madge must rate him plus Cross played for Melbourne a few years ago so will be familiar.

Whats the worst that could happen, he turns out crap and doesn't get a game, I could put up with that for a few months although I would get him on a performance based contract e.g. ammount he gets paid is depending on how many first team games he plays.

Fair enough. Against Warrington and Catalans we were not at full strength in the pack. In the game against Catalans we had three props - you're always going to struggle when you go down that route. I agree though our packs were well beaten by both sides. However after seeing the performance against Stains I'm confident that our pack can perform and beat either side. They just need to play to the level/intensity as they did against St.Helens. Our pack has it in them. I'm very confident with what we have already - especially with Gaz Hock's imminent return + Fielden.

However if we were to strengthen in the forwards with Cross I'd be happy to see how it goes.

If we were looking at him for next year i'd be sceptical. But this is all about the rest of this season. Experieced tough prop, if we have the cap space why not? Even if he never plays for us it would be good to have the depth to cover injuries and the competition for places.

Can we sign one of those rugby robots off sky? I reckon he could play in any position, not take up any cap space, not be on the overseas quota, not get stressed, not take drugs, not suffer a loss of form, not spit his dummy out, never get injured or never be tempted to move over to the NRL or yawnion.

Prescott & Coley have been playing through the pain barrier of late. We don't know the full extent of Fielden and O'Carrolls injuries. To be able to sign someone of Cross's experience on a short term deal could be a blessing.

I presume he will be cup tied, but will allow us to spell our props fro the remainder of the season.

Genuinley excited by the prospect of this now. If he finds some form in our environment, which I think he will our pack would take some matching anywhere in the world out of the rep arena.

There are some positive comments regarding him on the Leeds site. People saying that in a Wigan team he'd go well. Much better than at Leeds.

I don't know but things were supposed to be sorted at the end of last week. We do have to get a work permit for him so that may hold things up slightly.
