Dom Crosby or Ben Davies could do a better job. In fact Harrison Hansen would probably do better filling in at prop, plus there's the rumour that Hock might end up at prop too. Cross is crap and isn't needed.

Seriously though why would a club like Wigan want a player who can't get in to a currently inferior side?

Surely Saints or Wakey with depleted squads would be better served?

So overated... no idea how he played Origin from what I have seen of him in this country. His face was a picture all through our comeback at Leeds as well.

I wonder what Leeds have planned letting these players go... they seem to be going right down hill.

Fielden is our best prop on form and he is miles better than Cross. Coley proved on friday just how good he really is for us. Lima works so hard and is starting to look a class singing. Mossop has been our most improved player and he came through our academy... wouldn't leave him out for any overseas prop right now... Prescott is also improved and home grown.

We just don't need him. If they get injured we have Hock and O'Carroll to fill in.

I don't think people are thinking about the whole sitaution on this. I know he has been poor at Leeds this season since he came over but that happens to the best of them in their first year e.g. Richards. It was only just over a week ago that people were moaning about Madge only playing 3 props in matches against Catalans and Cas, when our main props were injured and it can't be denied this played a part in us not winning these games.

Signing Cross would allow depth, okay we do have Hock and Fielden coming back but what happens if Hock excells in the 2nd row and Fielden struggles to find fitness? This would leave us with Mossop, Lima, Coley and Prescott. If one of them got injured, we would be back to the 3 prop scenario. We have nothing to lose because of the cap space free from Gleeson, and hopefully Madge from his time at Melbourne knows Cross well and gets better performances out of him than he has given at Leeds IF he does sign.

I'd rather see Dom Crosby play myself BUT I do remember frowning significantly years ago on this very board "what the hell are we doing signing a 34 year old Quentin Pongia!" - he showed me!

Why spend the cap money when it isn't necessary? Why not save the money that would be spent on Cross' salary and put it towards youth development instead, or just not spend that extra money at all. If one of our props get injured then Davies or Crosby should play. They have to be given an opportunity at some point and there are many examples of young players getting their chance when injury hits and doing well.

If he was a good player then I'd be interested, but Cross has been garbage! Signing Cross would be like taking rubbish from your neighbours wheelie bin then renting out some storage space to keep it in just in case any of it ever becomes useful. It's a needless expense.

Poor at Leeds but excellent at the Knights. One of their star players over recent years. Which such negative posts I wonder how many poster on here watched him at the Knights.
If we judged Pat off his first season at Wigan no doubt a lot of people would be calling him as well.

I'm interested in the signing. Aggressive strong and experienced.

But hasn't it been suggested that Wigan only want Cross for the rest of this season? In which case the Richards comparison makes no sense at all since we'd have Cross for that initial rubbish season and then let him go.

Cross has looked less than average this year.

I see what you mean about Richards, but if this was a deal till the end of the season then there seems little benefit. Say it takes him a year to bed in and perform, he then leaves without reaching his potential at the club. Cross was awful at Leeds, we aren't in a position where we are desperate to make signings in the forwards and gone are the times of signging players just because they had a big rep in Australia, for those reasons I'm out.

He just doesn't look bothered in some of the games I have seen him though, he is over here for the money IMO. I don't remember ever having a go at Richards for his effort.

That makes sense. I wonder if Fielden is further away from a comeback that thought, leaving Coley as our only experienced 'enforcer'. I feel Cross could be an obvious choice to cover 'like for like' for Fielden for the remainder of the season.

We miss the upfront experience, this has shown in games were both Coley and Fielden are missing.

Cross looked average at best at Leeds, but with his proven track record in Oz he does have the proven ability to perform.

If Madge like the idea of Cross, then I'm all for it.

We possibly can. I just wouldn't want to rule out a player of his standard for recent poor games at Leeds.
I feel his signing, if it happens, could go either why, he could be terrible, or outstanding like his was week in week out in the NRL.

I never mentioned anything about Richards effort you did, I made reference to his performances, which were very different from the Richards we see today, Naturally there are many ins and outs to such a reference.
