The delay may also be because of talks with Hummel on a new contract which according to reports has now been agreed.

Radlinski has just been interviewed regards the new five year deal with Hummel. Spoke of shipping issues due to Covid & Brexit but confident that stock will be in store before Christmas.

The club's 2023 shirt will (should) be in the process of being worked on now, that's how long lead times are in this business; I just don't understand how a big club like Wigan can get themselves in this position with such a major revenue generator which needs to be available well before Christmas to fully capitalise on that market.

Tbh there are still delays on sea freight from Asia and also costs are the highest ever. Suspect the new deal irons out some of the latter. I think hummel shirts are made in Vietnam?

That said though, max. delay is a few weeks at worst and does still point to us and/or hummel just being slow and not hitting timelines. It’s not impossible to get supply from China to UK in 4 months especially as we aren’t exactly selling 1000s and it will be a basic (reused) hummel cut with a fairly simple dye. I don’t think there’s even any embroidery?

Rads is obsessed with talking about business and most of his job being commercial but there are so many glaring issues year after year.

It’s easy to sit here and say it’s the clubs fault but without the facts it’s unwarranted criticism. Using FC and Wakey having their kits and Wigan don’t as proof is a bit silly. It’s like blaming a Tesco store for not having milk in when another 2 do. There could well be issues you or I have no clue about.

It’ll be out in time. It always is. I’m sure we do this every year in some fashion.

Surely that's the point though. The fact that they've struggled in previous years should make it even more of a focus in subsequent ones to get this done on time.

Hull FC and Wakey have the same sponsors as last season so their kit could have been signed off months before Wigan's.

Nah - Saints kits aren't out yet (home shirt teased a bit on the squad number announcement so I suspect it will be soon enough).

KR appears to have said they'll be out in time for Xmas, if that's the case then nowt to worry about. If they're not and other RL kits by the same manufcturer are, that's not great - particularly using Covid and Brexit as the reason given that's not exactly news is it.

As above the probable reason behind any delay (are we actually delayed yet, still five weeks to Christmas so plenty of time) is the fact we have had to find a new main sponsor. Then add in current shipping and customs timescales you can see why its knocked us on a bit. If we are still here on December 20th, then we've mucked up big time (kids presents) but the feeling I got from that KR interview didn't give off any major issues.

People shop well in advance of Christmas and if they’re not out by Black Friday then you’ve missed peoples last payday before Christmas.
