As someone who doesn't live a million miles from Noble, it takes a lot more than 40 minutes, even without traffic. It takes about 20 minutes just to get to the M'way.

Although I do worry about this, MM seems the type that will move on his terms. He was more than happy to sit as No 2 under Bellamy until he felt that he had served his apprentice for its full term.
I think that MM still believes that his time at Wigan is part of his continuous development at a head coach. Prior to heading back down south. I do not think he would be rash and jump ship just because he is offered a few quid down under.
I do not know the bloke personally (obviously) but he seems meticulous in his approach and his tenure as a head coach here will play a massive part in upping his rep in Aus prior to his departure.
Besides which IF Wane steps into the hot seat after MM, the big man will have gained a massive amount from being an understudy to a very, very good No1.
ATM We are just beginning what could be a very good time, I am loving it!!.

| Early starts would suggest they would need early nights too or their performance would soon suffer. This may remove the temptation to go out on the p155.
One would hope that MM would ensure the squad gets the right amount of sleep, and that they would not be too tired for an evening kick off.
jonh knows better than most how the physiological effects of training, diet, and lifestyle can affect performance, in sport or in other avenues of work, so I'm sure MM and SW have worked it all out for each player.

Most players will enjoy anything that they believe is giving them a competitive edge. I be surprised if there's anything other than universal 'we're loving it' in the team at the moment as they can see and feel the difference to their performances and results.

I'm not really worried about the NRL aspect. Of course I think he'll eventually take up an NRL head coach role, but I don't think he'll take just any role - I think a large part in us being able to land him in the first place was that after lots of chats with IL he really believed he'd be working for a chairman that was forward thinking and prepared to do everything possible to enable MM to do this his way and be a success. I really couldn't see MM turning up at the likes of Cronulla or Penrith for example, I think when the time comes for an NRL head coach post it will be for teams like the Broncos, Storm, possibly Roosters (if Brian Smith continues to do the sorting out the shambles ground work).

Still in Bradford isn't he? He didn't move houses when he left bradford? Either way it's Leeds side of the M62.

| the training ground at Orrell is now run like a full time training facility with full time chefs providing meals through the day.
the squad are split into 3 groups with each team rotating hourly doing weights and the other two groups eating or in the games room (nintendo WII, ping pong table, pool, etc) until its their turn, up until dinner.
In the afternoon its specialist and team training on the field with ball work.
Maguire does not train the team full time but has his "own team" to manage for him, he does a lot of homework on other super league teams via videos and then sets the training schedule accordingly.
for example, the forwards were training for the Hull game 2 weeks before the actual match on tactics to contain their big forwards and also attacking scrum moves for against Warringtons weak sliding defense from the base of the scrum.
something Mr Noble didnt do with his 1960's training regime!!

He was in Guiseley in Leeds when he coached us. Read he planned to move when Crusaders were in S Wales, don't know the score now they are in Wrexham.

| Quote ="jonh"Wigan under MM and IL are embracing professionalism something any serious club in any sport has to do, this includes early starts, embracing Sports Science and training methods one of which is the early starts.
BN did a job for us, he stabilised us, but he lacked the skill set/knowledge to kick us on. We now have a much more knowledgeable coach in charge, who is maximising performance by not just good coaching but also good professional knowledge and a willingness to embrace a professional attitude.'"
Spot on and a professional attitude (or rather the lack of) is something I have mentioned from time to time over the recent seasons. There was a comment from MM in one of the interviews over the Easter period about the players looking after their bodies over the weekend which I took to mean don't go and get ratted on Saturday night!
We used to be a forward thinking club and would employ sprint coaches and the like and while I am sure sports science has moved on since then we used to get things done better off-field than most other clubs. Players would come to Wigan and improve and when they left would often not look as good in other teams.
If the club is now monitoring things like diet and going the whole hog employing all the modern sports science has to offer then we are back on the right lines and I can't see any player with a desire to do well not buying into what is going on.

At 5am, surely you should be able to make it from just about any area of Bradford to Wigan in about 40 minutes?

Yep. Noble didn't live in Bradford though. Like it said, it would take nearly 20 minutes just to get to the motorway. Driving back from the Friday night games takes me at least an hour when there is usually little on the roads. Lets just say I take a liberal view of the speed limit.

Andy's right, I personally live very close to Brian Noble and for me to get from my house to the motorway takes just under 20 minutes at best.

I have to admit - I've always seen speed "limits" as more of a guide when it comes to driving at daft-o-clock in the morning or very late at night (way after the kids are in bed).

Same here, a couple of times on the M62 late on Friday coming back from games I've had an unmarked police car pull in front of me telling me to "slow down" when I've had that liberal view when there was nothing on the road.

When we lived in Wakefield I once drove to Leeds at midnight to pick my wife and her 2 friends up. I was doing 100ish all the way on the M1 and was followed from the M62 junction by another car. When I got off the motorway I stopped at the lights and the following car pulled next to me with his 'hidden' grill lights blazing. He wound his window down and said "A little slower in future pal".
Incidently, Jonny Walker has the lowest body fat percentage at the club. FACT!!
