Busy weekend for Skolars!

With the weather looking good for the weekend Skolars’ fans can take in a number fixtures with Sunday seeing a ‘double header’ in Enfield.

The Skolars’ first team entertain the University of Gloucestershire All Golds at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium, Donkey Lane, Enfield, EN1 3PL the home of Enfield Town FC in the first of six Kingstone Press Championship ‘on the road’ fixtures.

Following last week’s bonus point defeat at Gateshead it’s a big game for the Skolars against an All Golds side who will no doubt be looking to impress new coach Steve McCormack but three points for the home side will put them back in contention for the end of season play-offs.

Admission prices are £12 adults and £6 concessions with food and drink available including a beer tent whilst the Magic Weekend fixtures will be shown in the bar throughout for fans who want to make a day of it.

Prior to this game at Enfield Ignations RFC, adjacent to Enfield Town, the Skolars and All Golds U19s side will be in action in their first game in a competition that will also see them take on Hemel, Coventry, Oxford and South Wales during the season. This games kicks off at 12.30pm.

On Saturday our minis are in action at Perth Road as they compete in a mini- festival with Medway Dragons and St Albans Centurions, the action getting underway at 11am. Our U13s travel to Medway Dragons with U15s at North Herts Crusaders. The U17s and ‘A’ team have no fixtures.

I'd rather be flayed alive than go to Enfailed donkey sanctuary. Fairly ironic that Londons 2 biggest RL clubs should play at the homes of football clubs that dislike each other with a passion.

The only way is Enfield on Sunday. After Dave Williams comments on Twitter last week about the Gateshead game I expect him to have a cracker!

Wish he'd had a few crackers playing for the Broncos, big lump that he is. Wonder if Grima could do anything with him.

What's going wrong at the Skolars? They have a pretty decent team now and still find ways to lose.

It is London-itis. London RL is for masochists only!

Really good day out except for the result. First timer at the ground. Thought the stadium and Enfield people were excellent.

One punter said of the Skolars first fixture it was all " grunt and chaos". That seems to be the Skolars game plan. Outsmarted by a well-drilled All Golds side. No lack of effort but a lot short in the savvy dept.

So, big Dave didn't have a cracker.

Dave had a cracker! Always does! Below par performance from the centres.
Missed Cox who is injured, Worrincey took his place who had no hit in D.
And Gloucester spotted that, and went straight through him, time after time.
Druce had a good game, but there wasn't any attacking threat.
Bradley played a game for Bradley As Lamont screamed at him at one point!!
Seems a team of individuals.
The broncos players just compounded this.
Lovell wasn't interested, Erjon was ring rusty , Jamie O tried hard. JWH was ok.

The only food stuff you could really mention with him is rice pudding

Interesting. I saw Skolars first game, Oxford away, and had similar thoughts. Tony Gigot in particularly was barely noticeable that day. Speaking to a few people on the Championship One circuit there seems to have been a bit of a swing against dual reg with a growing feeling it does little for smaller clubs in the long run. I wonder whether Skolars will head in that direction too? Not great for Broncos if they do in terms of getting long term injured lads a run out etc.
