(3)Apropos 1 and 2, this would effectively be a new club being parachuted into SL, bypassing all the licenceing requirements. I don't see Red Hall , for all their aloofness regarding the views of supporters being prepared to face the explosion of anger that that would cause!

Sorry Dave but you are totally wrong on this one, and I can't help but think why you are being so negative. Is it because you are opposed to London fans being in more than one stand?
I was part of the group of fans who negotiated this. There were several hundred home fans on the Brook Road terrace on the two occasions I recall it being opened, and it had a great atmosphere. I know because I was in it. I'm sure it helped London stay up with the draw V Leeds and vistory over Wigan. the players also enjoyed it and came over to pay respects.
For London fans who didn't want to sit in the main stand, or stand with away fans, it was great while it lasted
Had the club followed it up and marketed it properly for home fans it would have been full, but they failed to do this instead relying on us to do it via word of mouth
It was successful, and at least we were trying to improve the match day atmosphere
However the club were short sighted, instead trying to save money. It had the opposite effect because your less likely to get new people in with only two sides open and less atmosphere

Completely wrong - Well over several hundred on the home terrace (away terrace was already open)
Would you prefer it if only one stand had been open?

| Back of envelope look at the economics of our own stadium.
New 10,000 seater stadium will cost between 10 and 20 million to build.
Interst/Mortgage on this amount at 4% between 400,000 and 800,000
We pay about 250,000 per year to Quins RU holding company.
So Quins RL on their own = no chance
Quins RL + Football club like Wombles = possible
Quins RL + Football club like Wombles + Council like Merton = Good deal
Quins RL + Football club like Wombles + Council like Merton + RFL = Kerching

| Is there any truth in the wiki site about sharing with AFC Wimbledon.
I would fully support such a move. Only a ten minute walk from Tooting Broadway tube, a 5 min walk from Haydons Road station, or a short bus journey from Earlsfield

Can't see anything that actually concrete that links us or AFC Wimbledon to actually agreeing to build a stadium, lots of feasibility studies and council talk, but nothing that has us in it. But was said here and in one of the sources, as soon as you say you have financing and announce an intended site the price goes up.
Sounds like it could work, sounds like it is too good to be true. Maybe someone should put it across David Hughes desk if it is untrue and we'll find out if he comes out and either rubbishes a rumour on wikipedia or declines to comment on an ongoing proposition between the two South London sports teams.

At least it sounds like he is interested in having his money going towards building something, rather than bailing the water out of the damaged ship that is Harlequins Rugby League.

| Re a joint stadium with AFC.
There is a good non league football stadium in Merton, which also has planning permission for a second main stand at the moment. (Stated aim of the Dons Trust is to return to Merton.) When built planning permission was granted subject to AFC Wimbledon first team not being allowed to play there. Someone has dug up a planning application to strike down that restriction. It appears that the Merton planning committee have met however no result appears to be in the public domain.
It may all be totally co-incidental but if Dons do end up playing at this stadium I'm struggling to see why they would need to build a new stadium with us.

If the "Real" Dons, not those Ersatz Charlatans at FC Franchise Football MK, who I am glad to say failed at Peterborugh to get into the League 1 play offs this season, wish to progress up the Football League tables long term neither their current Kingsmeadow location nor the current Merton "option" I am led to believe are viable proposistions for Championship level football and hence the long term desire for a shiney new stadium.

The Stoop is a great place to watch RL, but it was a backward step to only open 1 stand. it completely killed the atmosphere of the place.

Where do most Quins fans reckon would be the best ground to move to?

If they have to move again....and I for one think that to do so would be nuts, then wherever they go, they go as London RL, with 10 years backing from the RFL/SKY to make it work..........
Brentford...not up to SL standards.....
Charlton.....too big
QPR.......possible, but crap seats
Millwall......not a chance
AFC Wimbledon......pipe dream
Leyton Orient.....not a chance....
For me, if they were given 10 years exception from franchise loss as well as an extra 1,000,000 a year for marketing......I'd move to Brentford.

| Here's what's going to happen:
Another 3 years at the Stoop, followed by the next round of SL Licence applications where a new London franchise will emerge with a new ground and a new name.

If Brentford is not up to SL standards then neither is Bradford, Wakey, Salford, Hull KR.
It's even better now that the end away terrace is now covered
It still has more than 10k doesn't it?

It'll take 3 seasons to get everything in order. The SL Licensing process with act as a good bookend to the francise's development.
Long term my friend, long term...

I enjoyed watching matches at Griffin Park much more than I do at the Stoop. But I can't think of any other reason for going back there (well, perhaps if we got the Cowgirls back ) The ground is lacking in so many facilities, it's not suited to rugby (remember Seb Luisi's conflict with the boundary wall?), and Nic Cartwright had a nightmare time every season trying to find alternative venues when Brentford decided they didn't want us there because of pitch reseeding or whatever other reason they could think of.
Think forwards, not backwards.

Can't see a denial or an affirmation on Twitter, has it been pulled because the last tweet I can see is the one about Chris Riley from 24 May.

Forgive me for paraphrasing Ian Ramsdale paraphrasing Gus Mackay, but apparently the CEO said that there was no truth in the story but that they "would talk to them about the possibility though, as they're always looking at options...but would not rule it out."
