Hi all Leythersteve still stuck in hospital. Whats the performance like today off the lads ?

Still not playing at full tilt. We need to learn how to play these championship referees. Play the balls are niggly at this level and the refs aren’t strong enough to control them. Our defence was solid but we still lack fluidity in attack. We bombed at least 3 good chances today. The pack gave us some good go forward. Bodene and Jordan Thompson was good along with Paddy, Larne and Jamie. When our pack gets on top there is no stopping them. 6/10. Could do better and no doubt we will as the season goes on.

Ste. The lads did OK, Batley came to disrupt and lie on, the usual.
As been previously poster we bombed a few chances, but we were light years away from last weeks performance, the boys didn't show any signs of wobbling, looks like we are on the right path

We played well today, C & W is being picky because of last week's scoreline.

Considering the conditions was an entertaining game. Drew H was very enterprising as was Baptiste and some of the forwards began to work out it was worth keeping up with play - Actons try was a peach.

However, Barrow held Toronto to a draw on a quagmire of a pitch so we may have to play a different style up there.

Well we can't play SL refs and we can't play Champ refs - WHY CANT WE PLAY REFS. Last week and the first half of this was atrocious in terms of penalties, not indiscipline as such but niggly that loses momentum and yards - and points against anything like a decent team (no disrespect to Batley who were ordinary at best)

2nd half was much better in that aspect, as you say the forwards are going to dominate this league - along with the names you mentioned I have also been impressed with Mason in the last couple of games.

I do worry how we are going to break the better teams down though, it may be me but we just don't seem to be able to break people down other than by getting on a roll down the middle

I felt it was a workmanlike display, with signs of understanding beginning to emerge. Vaivai is going to be a real favourite this season, and I felt that both Thompsons did well. In the threequarters Crooks and Dawson ran hard, and Owens' positional play was excellent at full back. In the interests of fairness, I thought Reynolds had a good game and was much more involved - it probably helps if your forwards are on the front foot.

The refereeing was, at times bizarre. The penalty count was heavily in Batley's favour in the first half, and then even more heavily in our favour in the second half. was something said at half-time? We are still getting penalised for not clearing the ptb, even when players are frantically clearing (or being dragged from) the area. Conversely, Batley were allowed to maul us to death at the ptb in the first half, but not in the second.

A word about Jamie Acton, who did admirably to keep out of the fracas, that followed him being tipped over and dropped on his head. Although it was a shame that the ref sorted it by deciding on a scrum, with Batley feed. Now, had Jamie been the protagaonist...................

Come off it Budge! You were slagging off the coaching staff after last week. We were better than than last week but not spectacular and will improve. To you still want the “scouser” sacked?

I don't think we played well today,but it was an improved performance. If they continue like that,then they may well fall into realms of "We played well today"... But they're not there yet.

Some good signs yesterday i thought , not brilliant & still a few things to sort but we looked strong .need to move it wide quicker ans more often

Yes we were better than last week but……..

a) That wouldn’t be hard

b) Still nowhere near good enough.

Reynolds and Hutchinson doesn't look like a partnership about to blossom, our in play kicking was better their full back had a nightmare were as I thought generally Owens did well for us only one mistake of note.

Slight improvement but can do better (one hopes)

SL refs though. Different rules, or different interpretations of them!

This team wasn't. Most of the new team have spent several seasons in either SL or NRL.
