Well i just hope we get the best person for the job. Has it been advertised, i would of thought such a important role would warrant a advert, just to see what talent is out there.

WHY ?

Hmmm, don't know much about how he works as CEO but got the impression that while he did a good job at Hilton Park, where he could lay the law down and do what he wanted it lead to problems when we moved to LSV & that couldn't happen; which was why we got off to a bit of a bad start with LSV. Still he's shown many times before how passionate he is about the club & he seems to have done a good job in the past so I'm sure he'll lead us to success especially now things are going so well, must make the job easier.

Alan Rowleys a top fella and Leyther thro n thro ....

I hope it is true. Why wouldnt you want Allan at the helm of the business? Hes been in the game pretty much all his life worked at other major RU and SL clubs, and has stated above he is a true Leyther. His contact base in this area and beyond is second to none. I have known Allan nearly 21 years now having first met him on work experience from high school in 1994, great guy and you wont find anyone more passionate about this great club.

Interesting to note that some of the less pleasant comments above also had similar opinions about Paul when he was appointed head coach, look what happened there!!

Exactly Ste. Who else would people like as their CEO. Someone with no connection to the club, town or fans. Alan gets my vote every time. Cut him open and you will see Leigh right through him.

In a kinda related way (didn't want to start a separate thread).
Is there a minimum figure we need in terms of average gates to ensure we break even (previous years it was mentioned we needed to average for example 1,800 to break even) or has the money coming in from the new structure meant this is of less concern than in previous seasons?

I would think the break even figure with our full time status would be a average gate just over 3000 with this fantasic squad playing brilliant RL Superb coaching and back room staff and top class people in charge this figure should easly be reached over the comin season.....Cant wait for the next 4 games ..

The Watcher hopes that Rowley doesn't try & sue the club again if the relationship breaks down like he did before. Also The Watcher is slightly concerned that it does seem to be one mans crusade at Leigh just at the moment. we have been that road before & it almost ended in disaster.

As for the one mans crusade two questions :-

Did you want to play at a none league football ground because thats were we where heading?

Which succesful club in sport isnt a one mans crusade?

this forum must be one of the only ones in sport who panic so much about one man owning us.... if you want fans ownership look at Rochdale, they wont be heading to SL any time soon

Good point there TW, there will of course always be ones who will go along with whatever happens and forget what happened in the past. I personally think we're in a great place and hope it continuous to be so. only time will tell.

I also am of the opinion we are in a a very good place despite the fact at the back of my mind is Derek was another who walked away in the past and potentially he could do so again.

I am to long in the tooth now not to be just a little cautious when it comes to Leigh RLFC and new dawns.

The secret however is to enjoy it for what it is now and to live very much for the day. We simply can not worry about what may or may not happen at some point down the road based on what happened in the past.

These really are exciting times we are entering into for Leigh RL so I am going to buckle in and enjoy the ride today. We have a wonderful stadium to play out of and we very much look like the professional outfit we all craved and hoped we could one day aspire into both on and off the field. That alone is a reason to be more optimistic.

I think it would be an excellent appointment. His committment to the club is unquestionable.

Would Rowley Snr be responsible for, or have any significant input to, firing Rowley Jnr if results didn't happen on the pitch this season?

One would think that the hiring and firing of playing and coaching staff would be the job of the Rugby Director and Club Owner.
Allan Rowley's title is I believe Operations Director.

Paul's worked miracles, won everything there is to win in our league. Got the best Leigh team since 1982 playing the best rugby and the first thought wizzing through your head to put on here is above. Absolutely amazing

Conflicts of interest - perceived or real - are never a good thing. However, Fred has actually attempted to answer the question (thanks Fred) - and it looks like Rowley Snr is not CEO after all, more like a COO. I've actually not got anything against Rowley Snr (or Jnr for that matter) other than some ill-advised rants that we all remember - like anybody else they have to be judged on results.
