| The Centurions put in their best performance of the season to overwhelm the previously unbeaten Bobcats. The relentless attacking play cut the opposition to ribbons at times, who were certainly older and bigger than their opponents but could not match their pace and skill.
The win was marred slightly by the failure to qualify for the Grand Final because of the narrow victory by Toronto City Saints in the other fixture of the day, and the Centurions will have to settle for the third place play off match next week.
More seriously, player coach Richie Moore (Scarborough Centurion on this board) was stretchered off and taken directly to hospital by ambulance after a clash of heads in virtually the first minute of the game. Reports indicate that he has a fractured jaw and smashed cheekbone. He is currently undergoing surgery but is eventually expected to make a full recovery. Best wishes to Rich for a full recovery.
Based on todays performance and watching national coach Jamie Lester's reactions to some of the excellent tries scored, I can see a number of the Centurions being invited to be part of the 24 man squad for the upcoming match with Jamaica at the end of July. The strength is definitely in the backs, we need some big units (perhaps we can get some dual registrations from Leigh!)
By the way, I saw something today that I don't think I have ever seen before (not in our match thankfully!) - an attempt to reclaim the ball direct from a drop-out by a sneaky grubber kick that went 10 yards. The result was that the receiving team did get the ball and scored a try tackles later. Quite bizarre as there was plenty of time left and no need to try and regain possession so riskily. Has anyone ever seen that tried (and successfully!)

| I think our very own Robbie Paul did it in a game for Bradford once?
Best wishes to Rich as well (not THE Rich Moore, I presume?!), I'm sure he'll be on here soon enough!

| Re the drop out I think a team did this to us recently (or was on TV here in the UK) and as a result the ball was recieved and a try was scored, it is quite a rare occurrance but does happen.

Sorry.

| Best wishes to Rich.
I've seen it happen a couple of times, where the receiving team don't leave anyone close to the ten metres and the kicking team recover the ball. Also seen a short kick to the touchline work a couple of times.

| I will try and sort out those dvd's for him this week.
Plus ive been to Scarborough (Canada) once and it looks a very nice place with a good shopping Mall so I will volunteer to film the games for nothing its just a matter of accomodation and flights
All the best for the future to all Canadian RL players especially Scarborough Centurions and hope Richie is better soon.

| Thanks to all for best wishes for Rich and the team. I have two apologies to make - first of all for giving a bit of a scare to friends/family of Rich who had (because of time differences) not been made directly aware of his injury as of yesterday evening. I understand now that all the necessary people have been informed personally...
Secondly, I should have said that Rich will require some surgery, not that he was currently undergoing it.
Two golden rules of journalism broken in one email - so apologies again!
To respond to the other comments: I might have a go at videoing the final game of the season next week and see how it goes..I could perhaps put some highlights on youtube, with the permission of Canada Rugby League of course. There are no good vantage points as far as I can recall but it would give a flavour of things I suppose.
I do make a comparison between the two Scarboroughs in an upcoming article for the Centurion - so you'll have to buy that edition!

| Thanks for the comments guys I really appreciate it.
Having the operation tomorrow evening and who knows maybe I'll look like George Clooney when I wake up!
Didn't get to see much of the game but by all accounts Scarborough were outstanding. From a coaching point of view its great to see the improvement from the first game. The players are starting to play and think like league players and not union. Of course there is still a lot of work to do but the future of rugby league over in here is very encouraging.
A big thank you to mapleyther for his help before and after the game and good luck washing all the kit for Sunday!
Thanks again.
