Elder brother has just telephoned and asked me to post that Peter Riley a Leigh half back in the late forties and early fifties passed away this evening.

Sorry to hear that! An outstanding scrum half in the late forties and early fifties with Jimmy Rowe as his stand off. Good team then. jimmy Ledgard at full back, Jack Wood on the wing. Great days but long gone!!!!!!!

Strewth! There was me thinking that only me and Tommy Sale could remember that far back - Simpson, Rodd, Cayzer and blind John Pendlebury at full back! This will be our 65th season from Charles Street days (or Holden Road if you prefer)!

Such a shame no one thought fit to have a minute's silence for Peter last Sunday. One of my dad's boyhood heroes, his other Nat Lofthouse dying the same week made it quite an emotional week for him. We seem to remember our heroes of the sixties and seventies but let's not forget those who made our club great long before we we were born.

Are we sure the club knew? RIP MR Riley

A minute's silence is to be held before the Harlequins game on Sunday.

Just a reminder to people for future reference, all minutes silences have to be put through the RFL, a club can no longer do them without this permission, I had to ask the RFL (others did as well) when Jimmy passed away last year.
