Been told told he could be playing for us very soon, hope so, things are looking up.

Not too sure about this one.............maybe a couple of years ago but are we signing another one in the twilight years of a career at the expense of young talent??

He certainly knows where the line is though.

A lot of what is wrong with Leigh is this type of signing. An over the hill player who was never all that good in his pomp, coming 'Home' for one last payday. Invest in the youth not the has beens.

Hes not old for one and for two he had played nearly 100 consecutive games up till recently he'd do for me and hes a crowd favourite!!!

i saw him in the crowd last sunday he was on his way up to the corparate boxes so could be some truth in this one

Salford keen to off-load to free up some salary cap for new faces. Stu doesn't get a look in these days. Will do a good job at this level. Hardly ever gets injured as well which is a bonus considering our track record. The only thing that would bother me about this is his "off field" antics.

thing with Stu he is a Leigh lad and has always had talent. I remember him trialing at Wigan before Salford. He will do a very good job in the Nl and in his pomp wasnt a bad un at all. Is only 30/31 so not that old.

He would tear it up in the Championship.

He's never had injury problems, recently broke the record for most consecutive appearances and has a fantastic tries to games ratio (especially in NL1) and is a proud Leyther.

The only downside is his tendency to give away stupid penalties (mouthing off, lying on unneccessarily, shoving people about at the PTB, throwing punches in the tackle, etc). However this has improved with age, as has his defence which used to be a bit suspect but is now a relative strength.

Just don't expect him to pass to his winger too often?!

I always thought he was excellent at backing up & always seems to be there if the ball is chipped or chasing a grubber kick.

I think he could be useful in our side

Gotta be under 23 on 31st August the year before the season starts to be a dual contract player.

There were also a couple more Salford players in the corporate area after the game.

Never been a fan of his, from junior level upwards. Someone said crowd favourite. Don't think so. Remember him taunting the Leigh fans whenever he scored?

It was me and it was tounge in cheek. I reckon he wud be a crowd favourite in a leyth shirt.

He would be a good acquisition in my opinion if we did manage to sign him, would score tries for fun in this league. Would probably have to instill some discipline in him as he is known for giving away silly penalties.

I remember Leigh fans calling him Goofy in the build up to the 7 games between Leigh and Salford in 2003, when we were the top two teams in NL1 - what do you expect?!

As a Salford player he's been the nearest we've got to a fan on the pitch - always gives 100%, sometimes allows his passion to cloud his judgement but celebrates every try like it's won us the league.

Sure he'd be the same for you, especially as it's his home town club.

Stick Alstead on the wing and Littler at Centre leaving out Maden. That way we lose one player who gives away silly penalties and replace him with another. Simples

I agree don't expect him to thank opposition fans for calling him Goofy, anyway he's so called a Wigan fan, but he was never away from HP as a kid, then again neither was his dad who was also a Wigan fan
