what a shame that we couldnt have signed an aspiring young english player from say a SL academy. I hope Mr Williams is a good signing if it goes through (id expect his visa to take a considerable amount of time).

Im not trying to wind people up, I like Leigh as a club and have enjoyed some great battles with you over the past years.

I just always thought Leigh were one of the most professionally run clubs in the division but this just seems a bit strange to be honest.

I hope it all turns out good though and you get your man.

in getting their side of the story out quickly and not leaving the fans to make up their own version. Which side is correct remains to be seen (and I suspect it will be Leigh). If Joe has signed a contract his comments to the press were very naive.

It really is a shame that when we get some good news and some publicity then it always seems to backfire.Its almost as if we are cursed!!!

My opinion from our recent results at leigh and the general lull is that we need to replace old for new at the club and i aint talking about the coach.It is the same in any business, when you reach a plateau sometimes it works to make a change as new ideas and enthusiasm can make the difference.this is my opinion only of course.

If a bloke signs a contract, its not unreasonable to expect the same will go ahead and to announce it to the world. You wouldnt think, 'oh hang on, he might deny it next week'.

Perhaps we should have waited another month and let folk carry on moaning about Timbucktoo signing all and sundry whilst we're sat doing nowt, and then wait until he's converted his first penalty to announce who he actually is.

Yes we could be critical of previous incidents but be honest with yourselves here, what would you have done if you had a piece of paper with a blokes signiture on it confirming he'd be playing for your club?

Should you say something to someone, albeit say to the Leigh Journal or Leigh Reporter, about not going to Wigan to buy a pie after having signed a contract with Sarah Lynns to buy a pie, and someone a few thousand miles away in your home town asked you if you had bought a pie from there instead of a Waterfields pie, would you having said that expect it to be news at the other side of the globe ?

I know what you mean Frank but I think the statement goes a little deeper than that. He is quoted as saying,

“All I know is that I’ll be playing for Lavington this week.”

Unless I am missing something, if he has signed for Leigh he can't turn out for Lavington on Sunday. I guess if he plays for them on Sunday we will know where he stands.

What shambolic behaviour? Surely, getting the player's signature on a contract is a pretty sound basis on which to carry out player recruitment.

Well done Leigh for the response, hope we get another response when they have spoke to him with a - Yes hes coming or a no hes not.

I fully accept your entitlement to a point of view - and indeed it might be right - there have been a few comments on here, querying the 'professionalism' of the current staff.

However, to put another slant on it, (also an opinion) maybe it's the quantity of staff, rather than the quality, that's the issue? I believe there should be more staff, to get more done, and allow existing staff the opportunity to fulfil the roles they were appointed to do. The snag is money, unfortunately. When we are asked "Would you prefer a team on the pitch, or a more back-room staff?" then I think we all would like the instant gratification of seeing marvellous, winning, entertaining rugby. (not that this is what we are seeing, at the moment!

) Yes, in the ideal World, we should be spending on both sides - on and off the pitch. It would not seem that the funds available will stretch to this though.

Anyway, we have recently appointed a new person on the Commercial team. Now, her 'simple' task is to get out there and find some more businesses to pour their money into Leigh!
