Why not bring AJ inside to centre & let Naughton or Hampshire have a run at wing ? I mean, AJ is a big lad, built like a centre & tackles like a centre (apart from last Saturday), that way Mitch can go to FB where he has done a grand job so far.

I too believe injuries are hurting us, got to look at those out & say most are 1st choice players, though I also agree that the 17 from Saturday could have killed Widnes had they applied normal standards & smarter play.

Won or not, Widnes are [i'P00P'[/i & headed for rock bottom.

Interestingly, Gaz Hock apologised on twitter for letting the fans down, that despite him being one of the few leaders that played & battled hard for a win. Matty Dawson also tweeted about hard work to do. Gaz was one of the very few who don't need to apologise for that display on Saturday & Matty D another who at least worked really hard.

Ah well, Dragons on Friday, they are a big set of lads, any more of that slap flappy fairy tackling & they will steamroller us.

A. He didn't.

Most were singing his praises last season, he was our best prop & still is one of our best forwards. Might not be at peak fitness or in his best form but class is permanent & Dayne has it.

Anyone forgetting Salford at home in the Q8's should go watch it back. A harder runner in this team I have yet to see.

Dayne Weston is most definitely SL standard, ex NRL & he carries a ball in real hard.
H.Hansen, Gaz & Acton I would accept (though you didn't mention Jamie), Vea & Green are feckin' useless.

In fact Vea had an upturn in standard for a couple of games but has regressed to a pudding like form, Green is Green, like a wet lettuce. Tickle isn't afraid of hard graft either but he seems a little age affected & error prone recently (a bit like me).

Lachlan Burr needs more game time now, younger, fitter & might go well.

Vea & Green should be sent to help out our neighbours Swinton (until the end if their contracts).

Weston needs to step up and prove himself, last year has been and gone. It earned him a long contract now he has to prove he is worth it - his performance on Saturday was woeful at best.

Jury out for me on Vea, puts the mins in which helps the interchanges but rarely makes much of an impact in attack or defence

Green does ok for me, but wouldn't be in my 17 with a fully fit squad (if that ever happens

Agree about Burr, be interesting to see how he goes with a run of games - but he seems to struggle putting the minutes in. Does look promising though

All teams need work horses the ones who just do the basics nothing flash or glamourous but willing to put the minutes in for the good of the team this hopefully allows the others have an impact. Vea for me is playing that role if he ran at 100 mile an hour on each carry like say Hock does, or hit as hard as Hansen does, then he’d need a rest like they do, some need to watch what he does for the good of the team not what they’d like him to do.

As for the game last week end we were poor in all departments possibly the poorest I’ve seen us play in a few years, but as per the thread title ‘Well done Widnes’ although beatable I thought they played quite well especially there in play kicking found ground on most occasions.

We have to simply live and learn, hopefully Stewart will be back bringing much needed organisation, because boy did we miss Drinky.

Just as an example glow, Did you see Widnes last try in the 1st half? and their first try in the 2nd half? And you're telling us to watch what he does.

He wasn't the only one to have poor performance against Widnes they all did.

I was giving my opinion though, I rate Hock and HH very highly, I am not a fan of Acton but admit he is improving though he needs to sort out his discipline,Weston I think was player of the year last season, and deserved it , it's just I think he hasn't made much impression in SL,I was critical of Vea early on in the season but his work rate has improved, and I like Green,I've not seen enough of Burr to comment.
I'M hoping for a big improvement on Friday,otherwise it could be back on the sleeping pills.

Danye runs hard,but not a line breaker and no offload,very much needed in SL.

Well he has an offload and a decent pair of hands from what I saw last season, but he looked jiggered from the off on Saturday- very strange as he has had time to catch up on his fitness surely by now

I think some of us take it for granted as being an NRL player the SL is a simple format to fall into. We see more NRL
players fail at this level than succeed.The expectation of an NRL player at this level should be unquestionable,but there are always exceptions to those rules.
