| Just seen a report of this, for me his talents didn't meet our aspirations but his effort was never in doubt and I wish him well for his future career.

| Or Westerman....and when you consider how many of those have been failures, I'm surprised they keep coming back for more.

| When the Toronto team was first talked about the club said they would be doing a big recruitment drive to get ex gridiron players signed up as well as surplus English players. Does anyone know how many ,if any, American footballers are actually playing for Toronto ?

| My feeling must be very similar to Liverpool supporters when they offloaded Benteke for £27M. Pure relief with best wishes.

Will be a long term project to get North American born players up to any sort of standard.
In their 2018 squad there was Ryan Burroughs and Quinn Ngawati. Burroughs was already playing RL (started playing in the USA having previously played Gridiron, moved to Aus lower grades then to Toronto) Ngawati is Canadian born & raised (NZ born father) was playing union I believe before Toronto picked him up.
Given these are both now on season long loans to London Skolars it's obvious that TWP don't see them as top championship / SL players currently.
If their goal is SL ASAP (which it clearly is) then they need to shed players who were good Championship players, and replace them, with SL players through this season.
Hopefully they will begin to start targeting high schools in their locality to introduce the 14/15 yo's to Rugby League who aren't first pick for their school Gridiron teams. They seem to be putting some groundwork in place to be fair to them, they are pushing this event currently https://www.torontowolfpack.com/2018/04 ... -8th-june/ which is promoting 'Rugby' as a whole (there seems to be a willingness for the codes to work side by side in NA which would seem alien to us). But all that said, we're obviously unlikely to see many players coming through who are capable of SL for some time to come, 10 years maybe? In which time the UK, France & the Southern Hemisphere will be relied upon to provide the players to stock these NA clubs, which begs the question how many of these clubs can we support, and how we drip feed them in the SL / NH competition - if of course that's what the sport decides to do.

| I wonder if most people realise there are about 30 Rugby Union clubs in the Toronto area. Rugby is not new to the area.

| How many of them are professional? Just because there are a load of amateur rugby union clubs in an area doesn't mean you can go and pick up some recruits for your new professional rugby league outfit.

| I get your drift Alffi. Unless the TWP can get a regular supply of SL class replacements they will struggle. English superleague doesn't have enough good players knocking about to plug any Toronto gaps without depleting our game even more. I would think the best option would be for them to buy in from NRL & we still have the problem of fitting in home & away fixtures to suit tv schedules. You can't expect training stints to be disrupted by trans Atlantic trips.

| If he plays in the cup game I hope we pepper him with kicks. Especially grubbers causing him to turn and catch.
