| Looking through SEB's post at the top of the forum we have a few players out of contracts this year. Does anybody know Blythe's Warrington contract details also?
When are other clubs allowed to speak to our players, and vice versa?

| In my personal opinion, Riley is not good enough for us at the level we want to be operating at week in week out. He's become a decent SL player over the years but I would like to see us replace him with another player in the Joel Monaghan mould.
Higham - I'm saying no as I would like Dywer to get more game time next year.

| Higham is better than M.Monas this season, yet we retain him for an extra year at Highams expense.
Monas living off his 2011 form still?

They say form is temporary, class in permanent. But does that apply when your knees are knackered ?

| You can't have 17 players who are the best in the league in their positions given the salary cap. Say you replaced Riley with Ryan Hall, then which of our big earners are you going to lose?

| Never going to happen, but you could lose Morley, and recruit Ryan Hall as a direct (salary) replacement, keep Hill and Carvell as first choice props, push Westwood/Harrison up to front row. Sign Gareth Hock, lose Higham and Riley whilst promoting Currie, Dywer, and Saltonsall and you would probably still have money over to get some outside prop cover too.

| Still need to balance though. You've promoted Dwyer about whom I have my doubts, for example.

| There is as much chance of us getting Ryan Hall as there is us getting Sam Tomkins or James Roby.
Next year I would like a top quality replacement for Lee to be our absolute priority. I actually feel like a traitor typing that after the way Lee has carried our team season after season when we were crap he carried us. Now we are good he is still our most important player.
I don't think either Lee or Moz will be able to push their bodies for another season at the very top. Of the 2 I would say Moz has the best chance of completing another full Super League season .

| I would suggest the chances of signing Hall are about as high as finding some beef in a Findus lasagne.
Monas is /was one of my favourite players, but it looks increasingly as though his knees can not do the training / game time required. He has looked slow this year and 1/4 the player of a few seasons ago. He would be on my 'amber' list I am afraid.
Same 'amber' list for Morley and Briers, they need to demonstrate they can still do the job. If I had to come off the fence I would have to say that I think old father time will have finally caught up with both of them by the end of this year.
Riley is not getting the quantity and quality of ball to showcase his finishing skills this year. So instead we see his defensive weakness. And because the team is playing poorly, we magnify it out of proportion. It has always been there in my view, but when we are moving the ball around and scoring it is less obvious. Also, when Atkins is on form, he helps Riley out. At the moment the opposite is true and I think Atkins's drop in performance and confidence has undermined Riley. I would certainly retain him.
Higham for me, has done well both last year and this. He is lively and gets the side moving forward. I would keep him another year on current form.
The pack is a worry for me. There seems to be little energy about it. How much backing up do we currently see ? Quite often Hilly makes a break / ground, looks round to pass and finds nobody there. I am a big fan of Currie, but I think we are perhaps overstating his performances. It's because he looks a bundle of energy in comparison to those around him. Carvell, Waterhouse, Wood, Monas are 32. Westwood is 32 in August and Morley is nearly 36. Individually, you can not write off one player because he is in his 30's, but I am coming around to the view that collectively, to have 6 of your pack at that age is a problem. So IMO, we need new blood.

| Signing Ryan Hall was used as an example. A player of his stature (size and skill) is what I was referring to.
It will be interesting as TS is a man for continuity rather than chopping players each year regardless of what we all might think.
He will have some tough decisions to make re Monaghan, Morley, Briers, and Higham are they are all on their last legs in reality.
Re Currie, I dont believe his performances have been hyped enough, never mind over magnified.

If the 'other site' is to be believed there are some big changes on the way for Cas. New funding on the way, some of their older players returning to the board and the sale of Chase ( OZ) and Clarke. We have certainly been linked with Clarke, so perhaps he is coming over ? I have tried to find out when he is out of contract. The following is all I can find;
news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_l ... 692236.stm
Presumably he must have signed a contract extension since then though ?

| Funnily enough, i just received an email from a fairly well connected friend of mine saying that Warrington and Cas have come to an agreement in regards the signing of Clark for next season.
Apparently this came about as the result of another club (who shall remain nameless) contacting cas in regards a potential transfer of the player.
I would be happy with this if true.

But Clarke is young, fresh, one of the fastest in the league, and you need pace out of dummy otherwise you get nowhere, but that's my opinion...on the other matter, get rid of hodgson, Morley, Higham, maybe Monas 1 more year, but he is certainly better than Higham, I agree on replacing Riley, he's proving already that he isn't good enough, his stats are; made 26 tackles, and missed 15, now I'm no expert, but that's just plain embarrassing
