Don't think he has been mentioned following last nights game but feel Chris Riley deserves some credit. He took his two tries very well including support for the second and had a solid allround game.

He is now level with Richards at top of SL tries, with one more game to go, also beaten TKL record of 28 tries in a SL record.

Keep it going Chris.

People are going on about Westwood being underrated but i think Riley is the most underrated player at the Wire.

to be truthfull Yed, I have been critical of him in the past but this season has seen his development move on a notch. Although the same can be said about the team as a whole. Some of the tries he scores are easy walk ins but others are quality tries, such as last night.

He does make the occasional blunder but I suppose all players do.

For me the player that makes the most errors 'when it counts' is LAnderson yet he seems immune from criticism because he makes up for it with his big hits and general defence and attiude.

The guy is fast, unassuming, and just gets on with it. I think sometimes that it's just the fact he's a young lad is the reason he makes any of his mistakes and that he'll iron them out in time.

One thing is for sure though is he holds his own and i think would walk into any side in super league. He's also kept out KP, so much so that KP has to leave to get any 1st team rugby.

Louis put in a top notch performance last night - plenty of biff but he's not short on skill either. The cut out pass to Riley for the first try was top draw (if possibly forward!)

Riley has come on this year and - as I said in another post - he and Louis are vying for the most improved players.
Yes he's fast and has improved his finishing but it's Riley's defence that has improved immeasurably for me this year - even though Briscoe got the better of him for the first Hull try.

Riley has scored 29 for the season, 25 in SL - how many of the 28 TKL scored were SL & Cup does anyone know? Sad thing is, despite being the top English try-scorer he won't get a look in for the 4-Nations as he is "too small and not good enough in defence", instead Tom Briscoe will play - how many tries conceded by Briscoe down his wing last night? 2 stand out...

I am puzzled to why Riley doesn't have a higher profile. He exceeds expectations.

2010 before last night, Riley 25 appearances, 23 tries, 104 tackles; Briscoe T 23 appearances, 12 tries, 91 tackles; Fox 25 appearance, 12 tries, 134 tackles; Hall 23 appearances, 20 tries, 98 tackles.

According to those stats Hall & Riley should be on the plane...

good pass from tickle and poor read from atkins meant that riley had to come in for that scrambling, just watching the replay now.

Toas scored 25 tries in SL 1999 season so Chris has matched the actual SL record as well as exceeding the total try score

I don't think you can really argue who should be the England wingers based on stats, like you could perhaps with the prop position.

You probably could if they made 20 appearances, 60 tries, 400 tackles, 0 errors

Because if a team lacks centres and halves with the ability to get the ball to the wings they're not going to top the try charts no matter how good a finisher they are.

Plus stats don't tell you how good a player is dealing with bombs, grubbers and cross field kicks, amongst other things for wingers.

Ah. So you don't think Riley deserves an international chance then?

I am very happy with his contribution to the team this year, but I wouldn't pick him as a first choice winger for England, maybe in the squad as back up though.

Riley's development under Smith has been a pleasure to watch.

Lets not forget as well that the lad lost his mum, i lost my dad when i was 17 and it hit me for 6 and people usually take losing their dad better than their mum. Fair play to lad this season for playing as well as he has.
