| Anyone fellow Wires heading to Silverstone this weekend?
I'm going for the full 3 days and camping over for the 1st time. Can't wait!
Early weather report shows rain for Sunday so could make life interesting.

| Sorry Chiswick, but the rain is more interesting than the GP.
When I was growing up in the late 70's/80's, the races themselves were packed with incidents, loads of overtaking, spectacular crashes, quite entertaing races, etc. The races now are just glorified "follow my leader" processions, with precious little overtaking, or action. The only things that dictate races now are who's on pole, and which team doesn't make a pigs ear of the pit stops.
And as for the racers themselves, DULL DULL DULL. Years ago, the racers were playboys, highlife livers, etc. What's the most daring thing Lewis Hamilton's done? Take a Sherbet Dib from the school tuck shop without paying.
These lot make Nigel Mansell seem like Ozzy Osbourne

Have you watched any of the races this season? Apart from Bahrain, they've ticked all those boxes.
I thought Webber's crash in Valencia was pretty spectacular.

I'd throw in Monaco as a standout poor race this year also. This no refuelling lark has ruined F1 for me, i did worry a bit at the start of the season, that the races were a bit processional, however, they have got better with each race. The teams seem to be getting to grips with the fuelling and tyre strategies, and we're finally getting to see some excellent races. Added to that, Schumacher is terrible, and Alonso looks like he'd struggle to win racing against my nan. And she's dead. Hamilton and Button flying high, roll on the rest of the calender!

| I do watch F1, have done since the times of Mansell, Prost and Senna. Best race I watched was probably Manaco 85/86 where Mansell pushed Senna around the track for nearly half the race but just could not get past him, edge of the seat stuff. In comparison current f1 is drab, other than the odd crash and 2 or 3 good over taking moves per race the rest of it is just a procession. I tend to tape the race, watch the start and fast forward through the processional bits stopping to watch crashes and over taking manouvers. Roughly 20 minutes per race.
As a motorsport for spectators you can't beat the Touring Cars, fast, action packed and nose to tail.

everything he as said is correct, also biggest joke race for me is monaco IT IS NOT A RACE,monaco only happens because its a rich boy's playground, may have been ok in 30's 40's etc when cars could actually overtake, but whats the point of the race(none race) when its decided by qualifying, may just aswell award the points there and then and have done with

| Used to watch it in 80's and 90's, now can't stand it. Shameless drive by Eccleston and his cronies to make an astonishing amount of money for all concerned. It isn't motor sport imo. If you want to see proper racing get down to Oulton Park, Snetterton and Croft for a club weekend and see some real wheel to wheel stuff instead of the jewel dripping procession served up each fortnight for the 'a' listers.

| If they had maneged to get the Grand Prix up and running at Donnington I might have been tempted, but its more interesting watching traffic on the M1 than it is the procession that is motor racing at zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzilverstone.

As a golfer myself (to a reasonable standard), I must say, I dont find golf particularly exiting to watch as a TV sport, apart from The Open, The Masters and Ryder Cup. It's great to go there and watch it in person, and see the player's swings, approaches to the game.
The only trouble with people who slag off golf, is normally they have trouble walking without their knuckles scraping on the floor, or have the usual stereotypical chip on their shoulder about it being a sport for snobs. IT'S NOT.
