Excellent comment. Unfortunatly too many people in this country are more interested in how many of their clubs players are picked rather than the best.

To answer the OP you offered us 2 scrum halves and 1 stand off so i would pick Eastmond and Tomkins as i feel Eastmond offers a little more at the moment. However think Maguire, Burrow and Pryce may have something to say about it. I also think, under Tony Smith Briers has matured into a far better player and ought to be in with a shout, age would be against hin though.

You can't measure the kicking games by how many they have done, it doesn't judge the quality of the kicks.

And yes I know longy only just left but Eastmond has still been playing in the first team for quite a few years, he has also played in many big games.

You think Joel Tomkins is 'world class' and you believe Sam Tomkins is going to be better than Eastmond! Sams gone 100 yards backwards this season.

I'd currently have Danny Mc above Tomkins for the International.

As for Myler i just think his very unlucky he is around the same age as Eastmond because any other era and he'd be the starting 7. Like Saints or not Eastmond is definately special.

Check the missed tackles; check the tackle busts. What you aren't seeing is the kind of games they play. Look at the carries; look at the yards made. Kyle plays more of an attacking game, he is a scrum half. To compare accurately you would need to compare between Leon Pryce and Sam Tomkins (and even then this season Leon's stats would be skewed as he has played full back on at least four occasions). Comparing stats, like you originally were doing, between a scrum half and a stand off is like comparing apples and pears. They have different roles and different styles of play. That's what I was getting at.

If I wanted to find out 'who was the best scrum half' (in stats anyway), I would need to compare Kyle with Richie Myler but I'm not going to do that (a) because it's really petty and (b) he's injured so the stats would be skewed. I think the most important thing is that we have some great young players coming through with real talent that, if coached properly at international level, will offer a real and genuine challenge to the other hemisphere. If only all clubs had taken care to nurture native centres and wingers as well we might actually have had a backline to worry the Aussies this season.

No Joel isnt world class and just because a few people on here claim he is you should generalise all Wigan fans, Sam hasnt gone 100 yards back imo. We finally have 3 young and enthusiastic players in the halves without fear and yet rather than be happy too many fans get caught up on the my club v your club petty argument.

Its the 3/4 line, where we are in the S***, name me two centres that could even come close to matching inglis, folau, hayne, willie tonga, matt cooper, micheal jennings the list goes on.

To be honest, atkins springs to mind, but he's a long way of international class, let alone close to any of the above players.

I think Joel is abrilliant player and ismiles ahead of his brother. However i would not class him as world class in a million years. As for Sam he is not a poor player by all means but his gone backwards from last year imo. Danny Mc has been a better player this year and should get the 6 jersey for England.

there still isn't a British centre as good as Keith Senior unfortunately. Gleeson has shown he can do it at international level, Bridge & Atkins are usefull, Tony Clubb could be worth a shout after that we're stuck

Keith Senior has been poor this season. I'd have Bridge or Atkins over him.

IMO Danny Maguire has had his chance, and now its time for the younger guys, like Tomkins, Eastmond and Mlyer. Like ive said before all the older guys like Maguire have that one thing those 3 youngsters dont have, and thats fear of the opposition at International level.

Danny Mcguire is too much like Eastmond in Style of play for them to ever player together so that leaves Tomkins and Danny Brough fighting for the number 6 jersey........ personally i'd give to a tramp mickey'd up on White lightning.... but I'd suspect his kicking game may be a bit off.......
