I agree, but which marquee prop though? They don't tend to want to leave nrl for superleague unless they're finished or crap. We could try again for prior but he's probably quite settled now at Leeds and would be expensive. I'd sign the biggest unit in the championship (you can teach rugby but you can't teach unit) and a quality proven prop, Scott Taylor wouldn't be a bad shout he's treading water at hull in fact a few are treading water at hull.

Beginning to hope that Widdop does go back to Australia. Especially in a game like that you would expect your marquee half to dominate and lead the side around. Instead he just floats in and out of the game on its perifery. He has been a big disappointment and is nowhere near value for money. Just compare with Gale, Sezer, Hastings and even Brown in recent weeks. We also have a big problem in the back row with Currie, Hughes and J Clark. None run any lines off the half backs and hooker. Currie can make a break but even he bombed a try again. Patton rightly getting criticism tonight but at least he made something happen - can’t remember Widdop contributing to the score.

Currie has been really good this year. Hughes and Clark I agree really can't play both without sacrificing a lot in attack. Better with BMM in there really.

Its more the notion we could use the widdop money on somthing other than another halfback. And if I'm honest I hope it's a decision a new coach is making. I have enjoyed the cc final and the semi against saints and a few other games but in the whole its been frustrating and at times painful watching us under price and whilst I dont put that solely on his head, he is ultimately responsible for the performances and tactics.

Well, the team selection was exactly what I didn’t want to see. Patton on the pitch, back row including JC (no not the water into wine guy) and Hughes. Bench that had Akouala rather than, say, Doro.
The first half was always going to be difficult eg us v Salford when we played the Wolf Cubs (I’m running with the baby animal theme. I’ll hold off individual player criticism for now.
Price had a chance tonight to put a couple of promising youngsters into a relatively established group,to me that is the biggest failing

Would anybody begrudge a contract extension to Daryl. It with marquee money? The guy deserves it and if we can tie him down for a further 3 or 4 years that’d be great.

This has been a issue pre dating price to a degree, but given what we saw v Salford we have a few that probably warrant a few appearances but unless we encounter a cluster of injuries or a covid outbrake they are unlikely to get any games at an age where the experience is key.

Leeds young players played very well the scoreline flatters us given how difficult it seemed but I think we need to give them some credit it they made it just as hard for us as we did ourselves at times

We could ha e played thewlis at fullback tonight with ratchford in the halves or we could have played Dean and left ratchford at fullbacktbeyre our 2 most promising youngsters with longstaff next. Didn't see much of Ellis Robson second half did he come in at all in the second? I'm. Not sold at all on Danny walker he has a little potential and is only young but he's miles off to me. I don't get the calls for doro either he needs to bulk up a lot before being anything like for front row or he needs to move to 2nd row where we are well covered.
