Has there been any indication of what happened here? I ask with a view towards any player safety questions rather than morbid interest... or was this just a total accident?

Absolutely awful news. RIP Ronan. Thoughts and prays with his family.

Just goes to show how tough this sport is and how players put their lives on the line every time they step onto the pitch.

A heart defect can be diagnosed and prevented if lucky but it just feels so more tragic with it being a tackle so unfortunate, so sad.

Amen to all above. It'll be a tragedy (in a pure meaning) when we play on Friday.

Wasn't at the game but a friend of mine is a friend of Ronan's and he told me Ronan slipped going into a tackle and was caught under his chin, absolutely nothing malicious just a terrible terrible accident.

We were talking about this at work today and can't imagine how Ronan's family must be feeling right now, but also the Salford kid involved must also be going through hell right now so thoughts must also go to him at this terrible time.

Just wanted to offer my support to the Salford players who were caught up in such a tragic accident. Hope they get all the support they need from the RFL and both clubs.
