I keep reading comments on social networking sites from opposing fans saying we have a veteran team. Further to this Sky's Eddie Hemmings made a comment recently calling us Dad's Army. These remarks have me baffled because I calculate the average age of our squad to be around 24 years of age.

I guess it's subjective on who Noble intends using the youngsters as we could load the bench with them and bring the age right down or they could spend the season just waiting for the likes of Morley and Meli to break down.

I do hope in the middle of these exciting times that the kids aren't simply lost to the club as some have the potential to be future stars (if I was a computer genius now I'd be finding a picture of Helen Lovejoy) and I'd make a bold prediction that 3 or 4 of them can go on and become stars internationally.

We have four players that are 30+, five if you include Hock who's just turned 30. Compare that to the likes of Warrington and Leeds this year.

Hemmings is a louse who takes great pleasure in belittling us at every opportunity. It's a big reason why Sky need to freshen-up the commentary team. It shows a lack of professionalism and integrity that should be the prerequisite of those in the job of being an unbiased commentator.

The BBC has reports about Morley playing his last game on Saturday before retiring. Lazy reporting from the BEEB and the usual incompetence from SKY.

Think a lot of people don't realise we have released five 30 plus year old players in Wild, Godwin, Nero, James and McGoldrick. So this year we had 7, next year 6 ( I think you missed counted) but we are now labelled an old team.

Some will be moving on / retiring etc next season but some of their replacements will be 30+ players so 5-6 ' experienced players in SL is surely the norm ?

there are certain area's of the RL press/ media that will always run with the negative aspect when it pertains to Salford .

You see your fatal mistake there is letting facts get in the way of what the press see as us recruiting all the old codgers. I can see where people think that about Morley as I still maintain I think he will be a bad signing on the pitch playing wise but brilliant off it marketing and promotion wise, but Meli and Puletua I fully expect to offer a great deal for a high number of games next season.

Its whether you let that label upset you ....personally watching our Set of Dads army at wembley three times and topping the table and appearing in (sadly losing) grand finals, is a small price to pay for a bit of Feckwittery By Eddie gob poop Hemmings.........

The experienced route has certainly worked well for Warrington with Hodgson, Briers, Monaghan, Westwood, Morley, Carvell and Waterhouse all playing crucial roles in your recent success. I dont even think last Saturday was a game too far for them either, key injuries to Ratchford and Joel Monaghan (organisational nightmare) were what lost you the game, not the age of your squad. Had neither of those two players had to the leave the field, I have no doubt Warrington would be the current Super League champions.

Did anyone else notice how the tone of Hemmings' voice quietened during the 2nd half when the Wigan comeback was on compared to his excited ramblings in the first?

watch the semi vs huddersfield.... when grix scores the winning try hemmings shouts 'oh no' shout it if your watching a moment of madness from a player or a nasty injury but not when a team scores a try that takes them to old trafford.

then the game before that with eddie trying his best to get Briers banned for the next game or even the final, with his non stop references to what a punch should get you.... so much so he continually mentioned it in the following match between saints and hull kr...
