Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on him this year?
Obviously Nobby doesn't rate him! (hopefully that is a yet!)
Although he seems to have bulked up a fair bit he seems to have lost him zip and initiative this year, last year he seemed one step ahead of most at the play the ball. yet now he seems more of a percentage player and has lost a bit of his X factor? I hope this is a momentary blip or that he is just gone off the boil now he has a new contract but I am a bit worried. Having said that young Files is ripping it up for Oldham and seems like a belter.
I can still see Nobby bringing in a new number 9 next year but hopefully Gareth steps up and makes the interchange spot his own with a full preseason behind him. BTW would love to put a sneaky bid in for Mcshane, he ripped us to pieces last year, not too sure on Tommy Lee tho!
Hope that Godwin gets the send off he deserves as he has been a decent player for us and he always seems to give 100%. Don't know why but think he will become a quality coach down the line.
Owen deserves his chance, think his fast play the ball will suit a bigger pack that can get a role on off the back of it. I do see him as being a bench interchange as he at a push could go to #13 to cover injuries. Would prefer Moore over Lee though getting Clarke for me would be a real coup and he would be the one that the Leeds and Warringtons of this world would take note of and really see that we have intention and ambition they need to be wary off.,
I Don't think Owen has done anything wrong this season, scored a couple of tries one which was a cracker v Hull, his defence is solid, he is busy, and I would love to see him playing with something like a dominant pack. The problem he seems to have had this season is that he is introduced when the whole front row is interchanged and we seem to lose our way because the bench players do not same go forward on attack, thats probably the reason for his percentage play described. Owen is still a sound prospect with good skills who in time could turn out to be a sound SL player.
