No the club did not give them permission to speak to him. Why would give them permission and then go thru a tribunal to keep him? When McDermot comes out with the phrase "Joel is a player we have been monitoring for some time!" it kind of gives the game away doesn't it.

Remeber that Moon didn't play for something like the last 8 weeks of the season because he was having a "hernia" op! Funny how we hear about players playing on thru things like that and then pulling out of international squads to have the work done. I feel that Moon has behaved appallingly throughout this affair. He is dishonest and disloyal.

More sinister though in my view is the thought that these top clubs can simply "monitor" a player from another club waiting for an opportunity to swoop in and turn their heads. We all know how much power someone like Gary hetherington has in the game and until that is stopped clubs like ours will go on being raped of their best assets. The Bosman ruling is slowly but surely ruining sport. The table has been flipped on it's head. Before players were treated like comodities, now it seems contracts mean nothing.

This has nothing to do with Bosman. Salford could play hard ball here if they wanted to. The facts are Moon wanted to go and Salford got a fee for him, reluctantly or otherwise.

Agreed, I wonder if we got some recognition in the transfer fee for not "playing hard ball"?

Leeds could have probably been done for tapping up, if it could be proven, however the fee paid is as good as a compensation payment so I doubt Salford would kick up a stink now.

You went through a tribunal to ensure he didn't go for nothing and to ensure you got a fee I'd imagine.

As I understand it, the tribunal was at the player's request to be released from his contract and he lost.

The issue I've raised - if you listen to the interview on the link in the first post, is that Moon clearly states he was approached by Leeds 3 weeks before the end of the season!

It does`nt matter,the guy got an offer from another club,liked it,f..ck,d off.Exactly the same as you and i would if we were offered better terms of employment,only difference is ,his ex employer got some compensation for him doing one.Do you blame him? I don`t,just be grateful the guy was good enough to command a transfer fee.

You are spot on - but compared with the rest of the c**p we are he are is totally irrelevent....

In my line of work if I apply for another job I have to put my employer down as reference and therefore need their permission/ approval
