U20's won 38 - 34. despite being on the back of a heavy penalty count in that game too! Hope one or two of these lads filter through into the 1st team as they have only lost one to Leeds. Sneyd stood out again also a big prop with skin head? Not quite sure his name but unsettled Wigan everytime he drove the ball forward. Also a ginger lad 2nd row / looks like a decent prospect/

The lads who came into the side for the Hull KR game last year played brilliantly and I am surprised we've not seen any of them seriously since then. That said Clay played really well when he got his chance last year and then gets flogged off, pretty sure with the struggles we've been having he'd have done a fine job.

It is nice to have the luxury of a good youth team playing well and is a testiment to the improving standard of the squads in general that someone of the quality of Wagga isn't a shoe in to walk straight back into the first team.

Reading that write up actually depresses me. It show how professional Wigan Warriors are as a club and organisation then you look at Salford website and it just show how much inferior we are as a club on the whole. I get that we can't afford the best player but sometimes it's just small things that count that make the club stand out as being professional.

Has been playing under 20s for about 3 seasons now. If this had happened at any other club he would be playing regular for the first team.

On the subject of reserve players stepping up, do we really need to give Matty Smith a bumper new contract when we have half backs such as Sneyd/Fages/Evalds in the academy side or could the money be better spent better elsewhere?

One or two things for me stand out from the match report for the under 20s.

I would like to see syned in the team if only for his kicking duties, kicked all his kicks, which sounds good to me, but holdsworth seems to be missing more then he kicks.

We cant ignore the kids , we are not going to win the league or the cup, id be happy to be in the top eight at the end of the season, but if im honest i dont think we will be , poss finish 9th or 10th, so lets play these youngsters before the go to another super league team and 3 /4 yrs down the line they are putting 20 points past us.

And just a quick question, one of u will know, is ross pendelbury, any relation to john pendelbury ex player ???

I agree that we need to start blooding some youngsters. I'm surprised none of the three quarters have been given a chance considering the amount of injuries we've had out wide. As for Sneyd at this moment in time I can't see where he'd fit into the team, Smith and Holdsworth have both being playing well at halfback so you can't really drop them, Owen and Howarth are making the hooking spots their own as well. Harsh I know, but if one of either Holdsworth or Smith gets injured then it's up to the likes of Sneyd to come in and make it difficult for the first teamers to get their place back just like Owen has done.

Big congrats to the under 20's by the way, I caught most of the second half and they loooked fantastic.

Agree with this. I just hope our recruitment policy (if we have one) for next season takes into account so of the youngsters coming through rather than just signing anyone who is available and then throwing a team together like we seemed to do under Mcrae.
