Parish is still hopeful the Reds can retain the services of promising utility back Stefan Ratchford, who is out of contract at the end of the year and has been linked with moves to Wigan and Warrington, but he has already identified a potential stand-off successor in local youngster Marc Sneyd.


"I spoke to Stef on Saturday and every indication was that he was going to stay," said Parish. "I'd be disappointed if he were to leave. I take people at their word.

"But if Stef decides to move on, we'll move on too. He's not the be-all and end-all of the club. He's very talented but I saw a young half-back yesterday who trained very well."

Pretty promising if you ask me.

Looks like someone you wouldn't mess with!

I'm liking what he's saying at the moment and hope the players respond accordingly.

I was very impressed with Matt's interview. It was good to hear that he has pinpointed 'some of the senior guys' as not playing at their best. I'm sure that he will do something to address this.

I thought the major point he made, was our lack of consistency, namely the difference between our worst and best performances. I have never minded taking a defeat as long as we've given it our best shot, but the number of times we've had 50 or more points racked up against us has been really hard to take.

I'm hoping that our remaining matches are hard fought and competitive. If so, I'll be looking forward to next season with a bit more optimism. The HKR game is coming a bit soon, but I really do think his presence this week will make a difference. COME ON YOU REDS!!!!

Is Parish talking about Ratchford as the young half-back who trained very well? I'm reading that (without having watched the video) as him talking about someone else.

Best kicking game at the club. But does this outweigh the other weaknesses in his game when compared to Smith/Ratchford? Will be interesting to see Sundays line up.

Agreed his kicking is superb, to me he doesn't seem as "off the cuff" as Ratchford is if you get what I mean? Stef can make something out of nothing whereas I see Sneyd more as an organising half back, who can steady the ship with his simple passing and good kicking game.

Ratchford's "off the cuff" stuff has cost us recently.
Bit of a loose canon on occasions.
Although I would still love to see him stay....

Pon't you find it strange that it is only since Pater Faulks alleged passing that Parish has been a Salford target, have they ever been seen in the same room?

Yeah would agree with that. Although Sneyd can create things out of nothing from his kicking game, such as the chip and chase etc, whereas Ratchford is likely to create something from his footwork or passing game.

Still don't agree about Patten though.
