| Quote This is what i've been told he ( Fielden ) has been offered a 1 year deal for half of the wages he's currently on but hull and salford have offered the same but a 2 year deal and it looks like he's off to hull'"
Quote Having further talks with Hull this week, nothing concluded yet but he is doing so with Wigan's blessing. Just trying to tie up the financial details but apparently it's close to being done.'"
Mentioned in League Express and the quotes taken from the Wigan forum yesterday , so looks like Stuart Fielden is leaving Wigan but has Chosen the Airlie Birds over us ,
Interesting if true that we had tabled an offer.

I'd have thought that Fielden would have wanted to stay closer to the North West and it's areas of specialist interest. Would have been a decent signing as he looks like he is getting back to his better form, for me he looked best when asked to play for 65 or 70 without a break.

Think Fielden would be a pack leader at a club without as many big names as Wigan has, Fielden for me would be the best foil for Cashmere and they for me would be a formidable pair of starting props.

| I couldn't agree more. I was considering the amount of minutes he can give a team, Cashmere and Fielden can both play for long spells, which would allow us to get the best out Feka.

Chrsit why did you have to remind me, I'd blocked that from my mind. A luxury prop when we don't the tacklers around him any longer to cover, for me a massive mistake if his rumoured signing is true.

Sorry about that one. Although, he was/maybe still is one of the most destructive ball carriers in the entire game, you're right about him being a luxury. This is why I claim that Fielden, if in some crazy world it happened, would be an important signing for us. Feka in a team containing a hardworking and durable prop, such as Fielden, is an affordable luxury. Without a Fielden type prop I'm a little worried.
Depends what Neal is capable of, maybe the club think he has a lot of potential and he looks a better option than Boyle.

I think ultimately the draw of playing for Hull is much bigger than that of Salford despite you putting together a decent squad for next year and having a seemingly bright future.

Yup, think you're right and I very much doubt that even the most ardent of Reds fans would dispute that.

| You have to think though in all seriousness that Salford and the surrounding areas are nicer places to live and to spend your free time in the Hull. I'm not knocking Hull and without doubt there is some beautiful sceanery round and about but in terms of culture and general location Salford would win that arguement hands down.

| Hull were a yo-yo team like ourselves until they merged with Gateshead thus inheriting a load of decent Aussies in the process. Gave them a massive leg-up to where they are now. Had it not happened, who knows where they'd be now? Could be where they are now or could have been where Halifax are.

seriously though, fc are more likey to match what fielden is after wage wise and are more likely to be pushing the top 4 again next season

I do not doubt that, nowhere in my post did I make that assumption, I was merely pointing out that your thoughts on the demographics and geography of the City of Salford are wrong.
Quote ="number 6" maybe fielden doesn't want to live in an urban jungle?? '"
Oh C'mon he's playing in Bradford and Wigan FFS! However when the truth told, Whoever offers the most dosh he'll likely go to.
Salford Quick guide: The City of Salford is a Metropolitan Borough of Greater Manchester and has been ranked the fifth best place to live in the country by the Royal Bank of Scotland's 'Affordable Affluence Survey’, where a 'rich' lifestyle can be achieved most affordably.
Hull Quick guide: With a past that can best be described as multi-hued – simply because 'colourful' fails to do it justice – Hull has often been at the epicentre of wars, and not just in the city centre on a Saturday night.

| If I were a player.... I'd be looking at who is the most appealing team to play for rather than the area.
For a player like Fielden, he's got to be looking at a way to enjoy the last few years of his career, along with a decent pay packet. The KC will be a good place to play for somebody of his stature. Put yourself in his shoes... as much as we are a club on the up... the one thing we are using to sell the appeal of Salford is the new stadium... In all honesty... we have dragged our feet and everyone can see that. It could be so easy for this stadium to be delayed 12 months (would this surprise anyone?)... which would then take him to perhaps the end of his playing career at the top level. It's probably not a risk worth taking based on the current history of our new ground.
Still... I'd love him at Salford... and would love to see the club push the boat out. That would be a showpiece signing in my eyes along with Patten.

| I can`t understand why on most forums when a player is rumoured to be signing, everybody starts slagging off the place they are supposedly going to.
Surely ,every place has its good and bad areas?.
