Not making excuses. It is a leap for anyone to go from Academy and into Super League.
His career does contrast with others from that Wigan Academy side.
The fact that John Kear,Phil Veivers,Nathan Brown and Brian Noble have given him Super League games must mean something.'"
It was desperate times and desperate measures for Saints last season.
As for his days at Salford, he was probably good enough for you a few years ago (no offence). But with the aspirations you have now, he is below par for what is required. I'm not sure how long he has left on his contract but I imagine this will be his last at Salford.

| Quote ="Red-Devils-PAW"The constant carping about Stuart Howarth is bang out of order.
He would have played in more winning sides last year than the Salford hookers did,as he was at Saints.
Having left Wigan he was unlucky to go to Wakefield as they were racing towards administration - not the best time for anyone to be at their best. Then to Salford,at a time when it is now common knowledge that the set-up was rank amateur.
Not much chance of attaining maximum potential.
Of course, one of the main reasons why he is disliked was that Stu Howarth, according to some, stood up to some verbal abuse, aimed at him and his teammates, following a second half capitulation at London,2 years ago.
I would like to think he can go from zero to hero if given the opportunity on Thursday night.
Seems to me Nathan Brown goes with Roby for the full 80 without him being spelled and without a recognized hooker on the bench.( Though I could be wrong )
I think Howarth would like the opportunity to prove a couple of things in this game.
If he really isn't good enough then it could be the fault of the system.
Here is my video of the week - spot the difference - [url=http://m.penrithpanthers.com.au/video-display/2014-IS-HERE/27209A Sporting Country[/url'"
Jeez, bore off. I'm not one for slagging our players off, and if he is playing on Thursday I'll support him, but he's clearly not good enough. Not only that but we have at least 3 better options in his position. I was to be fair impressed with him at wire in the friendly, but unfortunately next game he was back to usual. Painfully slow, telegraph passes, putting his team mates in danger.
I'm sure he's a good guy and tries 100% but he's not good enough

| ive got mixed feelings for tomorrow. Im gutted about Rangi not playing but im sure Theo will do ok. Im gutted about Griffin but its a good chance for Walne to prove himself. I think our attacking is good and improving but im more worried about our denfending

Neither Walne is in the squad.
Our defending as a whole has been ok, just the odd daft mistake. Conceded 6 tries so far, I think 2 have come from ball steals and one from an interception for example. If we can stop giving points away like that, it'll make a huge difference.

| You'd expect so with Griffin out, guessing Noble doesn't want to play the younger lads too much against the bigger teams.

| Just noticed that Mose Masoe is still out injured and I'm gutted as wanted to see him and Tasi going head to head.
Think you might just have heard it on the Richter scale.

| Doesn’t LMS and Hock have a bit of previous with each other? Then again who doesn’t have a bit of previous with Hock? Magic weekend springs to mind. There could be some fireworks and biff a plenty.

If we have a chance of winning it'll only happen if we've got 13 players on the pitch, so Hock needs to keep his cool.

| It seems Saints official twitter has it that 1200 Saints fans have purchased tickets for tomorrow night.
Be nice for a Red Devils victory and a record Thursday night televised super League game attendance.
Give something for Eddie and Stevo to talk about.

| Go you mean a new Thursday night record for us, or super league in general?
If the latter, do you have the current record? I'd have thought it beyond us in all honesty.

| Hopefully he doesnt, as I am sure Wigan, Warrington and Leeds will hold that record for a Thursday evening game.
Would be nice to break our stadium record again, if we assume Saints will bring around 1,500 we'll need 5,700 Salford fans. Can we do it? If it wasnt a Thursday I would say yes.

| I looked as far back as last September, Wigan vs Leeds 14,982
So we're not beating that and I have no idea if that's a record, probably not.

| We'll struggle considering the AJ Bell only holds 12,500.
If we can beat our opening game attendance I'll be impressed, if we beat them live on Sky as well you can almost guarntee a record crowd in our next home game (I think it's Warrington).

| Haha, yeah I realised and changed it....not in time though!
Wire is the next home game, I'd expect a big crowd for that anyway. Friday night IIRC.

| I'll be happy with a win by one point.
I'll be very happy if we win by a last minute drop goal.
I'll be delighted if it's scored by Hock.
I'll be over the moon if he does it with a rugby ball not a Saint's forward's head.

Au contraire, we've had 2 tough games, and you had a gimme against wire first up. Roll on 4pm, home, pub, game. Can't wait!!

you cant honestly count 2 out of the 3 favourites for relegation as tough games, can you?

| No you can't count them as tough games, but we made them tough!!!!
If we drop as much ball as London, we'll be stuffed!
