Why mention "Dirty Wigan" when the incidents involved other clubs and indeed players, who were just as bad.
What the incidents did not show was the way players with the odd exception were best of friends at the end of a game.

I'm pretty sure Tallis broke his hand on O'connor's head.
Tallis would've been sent off for that tackle these days.

Some gooduns on there, Tuson dishing out retribution is one of my favourites and the 2004 was great, still to this day you can feel the tension.
Terry O’Connor did bloody well to hang in there after Tallis dumped him on his head and had his way with him, Tallis had a big rep for being hard yet came out worse from that, bloodied nose and I believe broke his hand on Terrys head!!!
2 other things that stand out is how neither Australian even got sin-binned, both Ozzie refs too I think?

LMS staying on after starting the whole thing with his head aggravates me still.
Typical of their tactics against us back then. Couldn't live with us so just tried to start a fight to unsettle us. Worked in 2014 to perfection. |

To be mullered you need to be put on your arris or sparked out. O'Connor took the blows and broke the guys nose. Tallis looked visibly shocked when he came off the field as I think that he couldnt believe O'Connor could take his cheap shots and then snot him.
Alternatively mullered as you know is turning up at Wembley for a CC cup final get your arris spanked and fail to score. |

Yeah, O’Connor deffo won that exchange for me, he took 3 or 4 unanswered clean shots and to be fair didn’t really flinch and managed to come back with some of his own. The best part of it was him waking off the pitch completely unflustered by it all. If Tallis was as hard as they say then Terry has a great chin. |
