| Was Nigel Wood not technically an owner of a super league club?

| Nope. It’s an ex-wakey director who doesn’t have a pot to in. Which means the RFL consider him a leading example of a good and proper person to run an RL club

Yeah, a bloke with a proven track record, of taking a club on the brink of bankruptcy and turning it around, paying off historic debts, building a competitive squad, with a sustainable business model, that now owns it's own ground and has credible plans for a stadium rebuild, whilst having rebuilt the club's standing and reputation within the business community and being considered a model for steady and planned growth...is the last thing a club like Bradford Bulls needs!
FYI, both he and Carter mortgaged their own homes to secure Wakefield's future - 30 mins before the club was to be wound up.
He has standards and morals. You won't like him.

Don't be snide. we've had white knights come in with good intentions and no money. They fail. The long suffering Bradford fans are fully entitled to be both sceptical and cynical.

And fans of other clubs are entitled to be "snide" at Bulls fans who are perennial victims and who are quick to judge Brereton, without knowing a thing about him.

We the fans ARE perennial victims ffs! The one set of people most normal fans wouldn't stoop to criticise is those of us who've stuck by the club throughout the turmoil.
Being cynical about a new owner is entirely reasonable given the catalogue of white knights we've had.

These white knights are all people who have stepped up to the plate to try and steady a well holed ship.
Its was the black knights form a decade ago who sold season tickets at £99 a head and pushed money into lawyers to aquire players in the incorrect manner who drive this sentiment.
Without a succession of white knights, who else would have stepped in?
Remember anyone can offer to buy a club, if there was someone making a better offer stood in the wings then the current management would bite their hands off as would the rl as a string bradford benefits many.

Brereton spent five years as director at Wakefield Trinity, stepping down in November last year.
He experienced a number of highs and lows during his time there, admitting himself that he particularly enjoyed Super League survival in both 2014 and 2015.
Brereton was commended at the time of his depature by Chairman Michael Carter.
He said: "It is easy to forget the very difficult situation the Club was in the autumn of 2013.
"All that we have achieved at Wakefield Trinity over the past five could not have been achieved without the hard work and determination that Chris has displayed."

now it sounds like you would like to hear somethings different wouldn't you, Chris once told me there's many that have a lot to say about how to run a club but are unwilling to do so.
its easy to criticise from the outside when you haven't put anything in

Upon reflection Snowie, you may to some extent be right.

| Before Bradford and fans with an anti-Wakey bias form a view just ask yourself a question, have any of the previous owners of Bradford had a prior track record of financially turning around a failing club? Maybe Breteton is the first.
I wish him well. Obviously I don't know the details but I get the impression Odsal was a financial noose around the neck of previous owners, being free of that could be a game changer.

It's nowt to do with where he's come from. It's to do with the hope that the revolving door of owners and off-season drama that we Bradford fans have had to go through for the last 10 years or so was all over and done with and it seems we're just back to starting the merry-go-round all over again.
Any new owner coming into Bradford is going to be met with cynicism because we have heard it before again and again.

| It's certainly not anything to do with him being at Wakey. I dont care where people have been before in that sense. He could come from the moon as far as I'm concerned.
But like my fellow fan said above we're now so jaded by the relentless turmoil we'll just have to assume the worst. Easier on the heartstrings that way frankly.

They diverged in later years but I have never heard Carter say a bad word about Chris Brereton. There is a time and a place for men like Chris and perhaps that time had passed at Wakefield, it doesn't look like it has at Bradford.
This guy is what you need, you won't like it and you will possibly go backwards before going forwards but thats what is needed at times.
