| Toronto Wolfpack (M.P.G winners)- Have signed some real quality, Leutele far too good for the comp.
Widnes Vikings (M.P.G runners up)- Have kept some good players, Gelling and Inu massive for them.
Toulouse Olympique - Added some real quality oversees. will push above 2 all the way.
Halifax - Have a settled squad, hard to beat at the Shay.
Featherstone Rovers - New young hungry Aus coach, if PNG and Aus lads settle well could be an outside chance.
Bradford Bulls - A season to prove, a good mix of youth and experience in signings.
Leigh Centurions - Will struggle if injuries hit, Dual-Reg with St Helens will see them compete.
Batley Bulldogs - Another team hard to beat at home, typical mid-table team.
Dewsbury Rams - As above, Wakefield Dual-Reg players could be interesting.
Swinton Lions - Good coach in in Littler, tough nuggety squad.
Rochdale Hornets - Coach Carl Forster has an excellent reputation, will lift them a few places in League position
Sheffield Eagles - A season of struggle now they dont have St Helens fringe players to pick.
York City Knights - Not enough quality in signings, new stadium could spur them on up the league when ready.
Barrow Raiders - Someone has to finish bottom! Bullock & Parata big losses. PNG lads may be valuable.

Toulouse Olympique - Always tough to beat with ford in the squad
Leigh Centurions - Few ok players with the like of ridyard
York City Knights -Could be dark horses
Featherstone Rovers - Lost the main players will struggle to make the 5
Batley Bulldogs - Another team hard to beat at home, typical mid-table team.
Dewsbury Rams - As above, Wakefield Dual-Reg players could be interesting.
Swinton Lions - These could surprise a few.

| Toronto Wolfpack (M.P.G winners ) Money talks...unless they 'bottle it again' in the final.
Widnes Vikings (M.P.G runners up) Unless they have ownership problems...2nd should be theirs.
Toulouse Olympique - Improved last seasons squad. Deffo top 3
Halifax - Nothing much has changed from last season.....4th or 5th
Batley Bulldogs - My surprise top 6 prediction...settled side, don't lose many home games. Great half-backs.
Leigh Centurions - Could make the top 6, like last season...but with a far less expensive squad
Bradford Bulls - Won't lose too many games at odsal...added quality in Webster & Evans. Top coach in John Kear also
Featherstone Rovers - Lost more quality from 2018, than what they have signed. Really struggling with their prediction, could finish 4th or 8th !
York City Knights - Will compete definitely, can't see them being relegated. Good mix of experience & youth
Sheffield Eagles - Mark Aston to 'work wonders' again, thackeray will be crucial though.
Barrow Raiders - Like last season, early season form could be crucial.
Dewsbury Rams - Poor recruitment pre- season, will miss coach Neil Kelly
Swinton Lions - Will miss Bracek & Barlow, hope they stay up...not too confident though
Rochdale Hornets - Can't see them avoiding the bottom 3, great signing in Scott Moore though !

| People over rate Widnes. Its strength lies in the centres. But centres don't win games unless the team has a strong pack of forwards, and quality halves.
For that reason people should consider Toulouse Olympique, with a decent pack of forwards, and the dazzling duo of Jonathan Ford and Stanislas Robin in the halves, a stronger candidate than Widnes for second place.

Fax obviously. I mean we could point out that we didn't parade the Yorkshire cup, that it wasn't Halifax reserves we beat, and the fact that we are very definitely a team, but he wouldn't want to hear it.

| It's a two horse race Toronto and Widnes and they will be the top two sides at the end of the regular season.
As for the rest, Toulouse and Halifax probably 3rd and 4th, wit the rest to follow.
It's a real shame for the comp that Leigh and Fev, with their serious drop in funding, wont be competing for the title and it's probably a season too soon for Bradford. Also, looking forward to seeing York compete.
The debacle with short term funding (or Leigh and Fev's inability to make the top 4), has destroyed the competitiveness of The Championhip, which is a real shame as there should be 5/6 sides with genuine aspirations of making the GF but, instead, it has the look of a Tour de France final stage.
Lets hope that the "edge" returns for the 2020 season.

| That feels like a rather downbeat assessment of the season ahead. I do think Toronto will win it but there's a host of clubs in the mix for the playoffs. Then, as London showed, who knows what happens. I'm really looking forward to it.

| I don't know enough about the respective squads for this prediction to be serious but here goes:
Toronto Wolfpack: who am I to argue
Widnes: Retained a few decent-ish players, good youngsters (allegedly) so perhaps a bit of depth to their squad.
Toulouse: Despite Don Chorleyoni's enthusiasm they'll be close but no cigar
Halifax: Good for the play offs
Fev: Maybe nick fifth if they dual a few from Leeds who might want to shop-window a few they want off the cap.
Bradford: Good bit of progress on the cards
Leigh: consolidating, not sure whether they might sign more yet. If so, could go higher.
Batley: A scary female I know from there reads these boards so...
...I'll say they'll finish just above Dewsbury.
York: continue to grow, well clear of the drop.
Sheff: Not quite in the position of looking over their shoulders
Barrow: In the position of looking over their shoulders
Swinton: Phew!
Rochdale: Wearing the brown crown this year.

| Toronto - The strongest set up by far but vulnerable at play off time.
Toulouse - Will be stronger for the experience of last year and could easily go one better
Fax - Well used to playing consistently at a decent level but very much dependent on their playmakers staying fit.
Widnes - A bit of an unknown quantity - they looked awful in the playoffs last year - will they steady the ship or go into freefall?
Bradford - Seem to have plenty of depth but a conservative gameplan and a lack of experience in maintaining a high intensity means 5th is our best bet this year.
Fev - Could easily get into the top 5 - a lot depends on how quickly the new lads gel with all the Leeds lot and the PNG guys. The coach is an unknown.
Batley - A really tough pack of forwards who'll propel them onto the fringes of the 5.
Leigh - Depends on Saints dual reg filling in the gaps but will have some good days.
Sheffield - Recruited well - will be better than last year.
York - Could finish higher if they stay injury free.
Dewsbury - Don't think they're doing dual reg are they? Greenwood will make them very hard to beat.
Barrow - Should be clear of the drop easily.
Swinton & Rochdale battling it out at the bottom.

So have Saints grown a pair as a club and decided whether the want a reserve team or just do DR instead or are they just going to continue to flip flop around the issue and be in, then out, then tell other clubs they’re in only to be out again? No wonder you struggle to make finals and win the major trophy trophies nowadays with that sort of poor ownership.

| 1. Toronto, bought Super League already so give it them now !
2. Weirdnes, just because of Gelling & Inu bit could implode quite easily & end up 3rd or 4th !
3. Toulouse to go from strength to strength in an even stronger Chamionship !
4. Fax, doing it the right way !
5. Bradford or Leigh, would depend on injuries for Leigh with a squad far to small, maybe 5 or 6 short of a full squad !
6. Leigh or Bradford, Bradford seem to be building steadily & have some very good players I would like at Leigh + they have a solid & growing fan base !
The rest don't matter much but I expect Batley to be tough on their own patch & be mid table, Fev I can't work out but could be anywhere from 5th to 7th & I would like Swinton to go well but realistically will just escape the bottom 2. Sheffield to implode & have a stinker of a season !

| Toronto will finish top but we (Widnes) can beat them I think in a one off game come the end of the season. Having the final game this time over in England personally i think is a huge blow to them.
Gelling and Ashall standout players for Widnes.
We have a strong pack with Liam Hood (very underrated, best hooker in the division), Cahill, Tangata, Dean, Hansen.
We struggle in the halves but Jack Owens has slotted in very well.
We’ll claim quite a few injuries to the i pitch then our squad will really be tested. Not much strength in depth.

Toulouse does not struggle in the halves. In Jonathan Ford and Stanislas Robin Toulouse has the best two halves in the Championship. It also has excellent outside backs. The only question is the power of the Toulouse forwards. If the Toulouse forwards can at least hold their own then Toulouse will beat Widnes, and maybe even Toronto.

| The opening fixtures throw up a lot of perfect games for us to establish how everyone is fairing.
Leigh vs Toulouse - Interesting battle. Have Leigh recruited well enough after their earlier trauma, and will Toulouse travel well?
Batley vs Barrow - Will Batley be pushing for the playoffs and are Barrow going to be in the relegation fight?
Bulls vs Featherstone - Battle of playoff contenders. A good indication of whether Bulls have recruited well enough to make the playoffs, and if Feath have built the strength back up after the financial blip.
Rochdale vs Dewsbury - Are Rochdale relegation fodder, can Dewsbury be more than mid-table.
Sheffield vs Swinton - Are Sheffield just coasting in mid-table, can Swinton avoid the drop.
Widnes vs Halifax - Another interesting one. Widnes looking to bounce straight back up, with a tough game against an established playoff side in Fax.
York vs Toronto - Do York have enough to thrive in this division, and are Toronto a cut above the rest?

Despite my previous post regarding the "inevitability" of The Championship, there are some cracking games there.
Widnes v Fax and York v Toronto should be excellent games and it will be interesting to see whether Leigh are anywhere near Toulouse, who you would expect to win this one (settled side and all thet).

| Widnes V Fax should be a great game and after it we'll know more about if Widnes have the stomach for the fight that they didn't show in the middle 8s. Fax are one of the toughest teams in the division (provided they have their playmakers available).
While I was seriously impressed with York last season I think Toronto will be far too good. Same applies to Toulouse vs Leigh (who haven't had much time to train together).
