| Seen as we had a similar thread going and it's my first post on here, young player of the year... Who do you think will get young man of steel?
I'm going to be a little controversial here and say that Denny Solomona has come on leaps and bounds at Cas under a great coach in Powell.
As much as it hurts to say, massive mentions to both Joe Burgess and Dom Manfredi at Wigan, both have been superb when I've seen them play.
Looking forward to seeing Tom Gilmore play more at Widnes now as KB is out for a while, had a stormer against Catalan on Sunday too.

| There has been a few this year and just about ever club has one which is good for the game, stand outs for each club for me are:
Leeds Liam Sutcliff
Saints Andre Savelio
Wigan Dom Manfredi
Hudds Jared Simpson
Cas Denny Solamona (never realised he was that young)
Warrington Brad Dwyer
Catalans Fouad Yaha
Hull Jordan Abdul
Rovers Aaron Ollett
Widnes Tom Gilmore
Salford Niall Evalds
Wakey Tom Johnson

What's the age limit? Just checked and he's 21 today.

| Ben Currie if he qualifies for it. I think Brad Dwyer is also in with a shout, and the rest of the season/playoffs could still have an effect on who takes the accolade.

| According to Wiki Ben Currie is 21 today so I would have thought he is eligible. Line ham is 22, John Bateman was 22 a few days ago so I'm not sure whether they qualify or not. All would be a good shout.
I've been impressed with Greenwood and Savelio at St Helens, the young full back at Salford whos name escapes me, Burgess at Wigan. Ward and Sutcliffe at Leeds off the top of my head.
There are a lot of contenders this year which is good for the future of English RL.

| Joe Burgess, after a bad start to the year when his Sydney deal got announced, this guy is now in top form. Best winger in the comp bar Hall.

| As pointed out its fantastic for the game that so many names are being reeled off.
If both qualify its between Currie and Burgess for me. There's been a lot of good players mentioned but those two have been on a different level and unlike many of the others both are ready to make a big impact on the international stage now!

| I don't really get it with Ben currie, think I need to pay closer attention!
Joe Burgess is comfortably the best young player is SL imo, and that's from a Saints fan. He'll go on to be a world class player, not sure whether that will be at wing, centre or full back as I think he could be brilliant across the back line.

| How about Williams at Wigan? I've seen some very mature performances from him which, given his position, is very impressive.

Agree with this. I'll be paying attention to Currie tonight if he is playing.
Stevie Ward was outstanding at Leeds but eased off a little bit followed by an injury. Greenwood at Saints has a huge future, really like the look of him. But yea, Burgess at Wigan, great talent.

He's been too up and down for me. Awesome in some games but has nightmares in others. He will find that consistency though and he will be me a full international in time.
It would help him not having to play behind a set of props that haven't got a set of boll*cks between them (aside from Tony Clubb who's superb).

| A lot of young players have been impressive this season and it is tough to pick out one (or even a shortlist of 3)...
At Saints, I think Greenwood would have been in with a real shout had it not been for injury, and Savelio has really matured as a player and become a key member of our pack, getting better every week.
Burgess at Wigan is definitely a classy act, been impressed with Sutcliffe, Singleton & Handley at Leeds, Currie at Wire is quality & Dwyer looks to have had a real impact for them since he came back to them. Not sure how old he is but Gigot at Catalans is having a good season, Evalds & Fages at Salford both gone well in a below par team and Johnstone on wing at Wakefield looks a great talent...
Some great young talent kicking about in SL which is great for the competition and (imo) any of the above could easily be worthy winners. If I had to pick a shortlist of 3 would possibly be Burgess, Singleton & Greenwood for me (if Greenwood carries on his form between now & end of season)

| To qualify, you have to be under 21 when the season starts ......................... Which I think was 5th Feb Widnes v Wigan ................... So anyone born on 6th Feb 1994 or after
