I agree - he's currently working for Sky Sports on a freelance basis (he currently owns a sports entertainment company, I believe) so I wonder what capacity he could be in to take over commentary one day.

Eddie and Stevo are beyond embarrassing - keeping the broadcast of this game in the 80s

When are Sky Sports going to dispense of the music that they play after a try is scored?

'Seize the Day' has been used since 1993. It's 22 years old. When is it going to occur to someone that, maybe, just maybe, it's a little out of date? More to the point, when is someone going to realise that try music isn't even necessary. What other sports broadcasts use music to indicate that a score has taken place?

"Get the message out", if you're "furious" because if you "have a little finger on it" in the "first stanza" it's possible that " the officials missed it" and missed out on the "silly penalties" that resulted because "he went high" and "couldn't run without his legs."

The thing is Dave- as those that PAY for the benefit of sky sports, and tune in to watch the game- I think it's important that these types of comments are listened to- rather than vilified. Stevo is a joke- same old lines trotted out week after week. Half the time they aren't actually commenting on play.
Eddie constantly gets the names of players wrong- not just the casual racism of failing to recognise the difference between players with similar coloured, darker skin, which he regularly does. But he said Larne Patrick took the ball in for hudds the other week - when he's not been in the hudds team all season but playing for Wigan!!! It works both ways -They need to show some respect for the viewers and the game.

I'm pretty sure Dave's comment was aimed squarely at Leaguefan who's response to any criticism of referees is to simply tell people to give it a go themselves if they think they can do better.

Well the BBC kept Waring on well past the time it was obvious he had dementia and couldn't even string a sentence together never mind remember the players names, listen to his last CC match, it's so sad.
That said to compare Waring to Stevo is a ing disgrace, Stevo has always being micturate poor, Eddie used to be okay BITD but he's been far too drawn into the discussing X for 75% of the time and only 25% 'commentating' rather than leaving those aspects for the half time/after match analysis.

It's their constant trying to find refereeing errors that gets me. They'll put up a replay of a dodgy PTB or dubious high tackle or some such trivia to try make a monkey out of the ref. Meanwhile play has continued and someones kicked a 40/20 and we miss it.
