Lenaghan's ties with the capital club are still strong. He has also got into bed with the Toulouse club. Oh dear.

Lenagan does want Toulouse in SL.
As far as the summit meeting is concerned, it would not surprise me to hear an announcement at the end informing us of the return of the Great Britain test team together with tour details.
After all it would detract from a situation where there was little or no progress on how to take Super League forward or a lack of improvements to the Challenge Cup or play offs.
We shall see!

It would appear, though, that getting rid of the Broncos is an option that at least some clubs would be prepared to see - straight swap with Toulouse, maybe?

There is no reason to revert to Great Britain.
Who, from outside England, would you wish to include in a GB team.

The more pressing issue is to decide the numbers for SL, which will be mighty interesting (especially if there iss to be any cut in numbers any time soon)

it will be very interesting to see which clubs he thinks are not good enough for Super League,if he wants a ten team league and Toulouse in the mix, that means dropping five teams, most people know what teams he would like to be demoted, if he and others who run the so called teams Super League cannot do with out, want to see the game go forward its time they stopped just thinking about them selves,

It'd mean you could have England (the Knights effectively), Scotland, Ireland and Wales as second tier nations and committing to the latter 3 wouldn't cost players a shot at one day playing in top tier internationals, without all the messing about we currently have. The World Cup remains an issue, admittedly.

But that means you dismiss Scotland, Wales and Ireland as 2nd tier teams, nobody is going to choose to play for Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and those nations will never attract people to their sport by being 2nd tier nations only worthy of being a sparring partner.

I thought the reason the RFL got Sport England money , was we had to end the GB team and revert to the 4 National teams? As they would not fund a Multi national team.

If they develop and improve then they become first-tier nations, obviously. If I was playing for, for example, Scotland, I'd rather routinely be playing and competing with Wales/Ireland/France/Fiji than getting scuttleypooped by 80-0 by Australia.
If I progress as a player, I can still play for GB and perhaps only get beaten by 10 or 20 by the Kangaroos. Huzzah!


We have to deal with the World as it is - '2nd tier' is maybe impolitic though, I admit, how about 'developing nations'? that sounds progressive.

Some SL chairmen have said the there should only be twelve teams in the league. None of them though have volunteered their club into the Championship.

the ones with all the gob should be the first to go, never mind I'm alright and sod the rest, i have never eared so much rubbish some of the CEOs come out with, so long as there club wont be going down its alright what are they wanting to happen to the players who's club go down, do they want all the players contracts tearing up so the can cherry pick the best talent & then tell them there doing them a favor

I don't blame him trying to benefit himself, most of us would do the same. What I do have a problem is with him acting like a super-fan all the time and indeed hiding behind his "Wigan born & bred" persona.

intresting to hear tonight at a fans forum held by hull fc, wigan and leeds were strong advocates not to raise the salary cap!

pearson also stated that the previous regime in charge should be embarrassed with the last sponsorship deal with stobart with the widnes owner/chairman strongly to blame for a very poor decision costing clubs valuble income, even went ot say that the vikings chairman could've been mistaken as a representative of stobart!

So Pearson portraying himself as über RL Chairman once again despite being in the game for 5 mins. He seems quite adept at slagging off other clubs and their board members. Which is a strange thing to do if he actually wants to change things within SL. He's taken on Hetherington and lost, now he's trying O'Connor. My money is on the bald one with the lorries, not the loudmouth pillock.

As for the salary cap, I'm not suprised Wigan & Leeds don't want it raising. They've both built successful clubs that can manage to run as a business. The last thing Leeds and Wigan want is rising costs.

Has there been any official comment about the matters that were discussed at the meeting (apart from the comments by Pearson). If so, is there a plan or, are we planning the future be jarking our respective knees ?
