Hull Kr, Crusaders and Catalans have all been criticised for having too many overseas players in their squad, yet I have not seen any critisim of Wigan, the sky team endlessly go on about their amazing youth development whenever they are on sky, yet the realitiy is Wigan have more overseas players than the vast majority of clubs. How on earth have they been allowed to add Ben Cross to their list?

We have brought more players through our youth system than any club in SL, you going to cry about the other teams aswell?

We have 5 non-fed players, Lima, Finch, Hoffman, Roberts and now Cross.

Ignoring the previous rules as to why Leuleuai and Hanson have never counted as it will only confuse you; all the others signed pre-2008 so don't count anyway. Just the same as it is for every other club.

Hoffman and Carmont are likely to leave at the end of the season, though there is still a slight chance both could still be at Wigan next year, so with Cross going to Widnes next year, we'll have 3 (maybe 4) non-fed players on the books.

Non-fed quota etc or not isn't the point of this thread, the point is Wigan have 9 non-British players and this is from a team that boasts about the junior development and the fact people have had a go at other teams for the number of overseas players.

Oh sorry, you can add Crosby and Jack Hughes and Ryan King to that list aswell, so thats 6 more.

Just to muddy the waters a little more for you, Hansen came through our academy too.

And the fact remains we have brought through more youngsters than any other club, also look at other clubs for lads that came through our system, Brown, Robinson at Hudds are 2 straight off the top of my head.................SL is full of Wigan lads and people that have come through our system.

You'd think with Wigan breaking the number of Overseas players allowed Rules that someone, anyone, would have spotted it?

Why do people keep putting Harrison Hansen on the list? It's not like we've found some hidden grandparent so we can get him off quota, he's been with the club since his mid-teens and if he really wanted to qualifies outright to play for England. There's no point at all having him on the list.

Hansen was trained by the club so he doesn't count. He just qualifies to play for Samoa through his mum and dad I think. He was brought through our system.
Leuluai has been in this country since before the age of 21, its not like we poached him from the NRL.

Roberts, Carmont, Hoffman and Cross could leave at the end of the year.

Then we have... L Tomkins, Mellor, Crosby, Hughes and Davies doing time at other super league clubs and championship clubs on dual registration.

We also have one of the most succesful academy teams over the last few years and the most succesful reserve team as well.

Finally the young England side to take on the aussies last year at LSV had more players from Wigan than any other team.

Not too shabby for a team full of overseas players

I haven't checked, but I would be surprised if there is another SL team with more first team players that came through their academy than Wigan.

As for the non-british, this again some whining about how they can't play for England. The facts are Wigan have 5 non-fed players, as allowed by the rules. The other 4 are all pre-2008, of which only none of them counted anyway, as Hansen came through the Wigan Academy, Leuleuai was here for more then 2 years, under 21, so counts as 'academy trained' at London Broncos. Pat is Irish and Carmont Samoan as far as the rules are concerned, all of which is no longer relevant since the fed, non-fed rules have been brought in. Once Carmont and Richards leave don't expect them to be replaced with an aussie, but probably, yet another, Wigan academy youngster.
