Kangaroos would win the RL game, probably by about 60 points. Wallabies would win the RU game, probably by about 30 points.

Not sure it would prove anything.

Raising money for kids charity would prove alot,on top of that the Kangaroos would wallop them in unoin 2.The backs would have a picnic!

Why would we want to give RU any credibility or publicity?

I think a couple of you dont realise how powerful some of those forwards are. Unions a pro game now, the athletes in league might be better but it would just be as one sided the other way. It would be freakin boring but dont kid yourselves saying the roos would run up 60, they'd be mullered in the first half, your forwards are light as it is without taking on the union mob

Well I would suggest it would be hard to stay in the Union camp if you were presented with a far better product....and there was no room for debate in that

League will always be popular amongst league fans

Union will always be popular amongst Union fans

Basketball will always be popular amongst basketball fans

Athletics will always be popular amongst athletics fans

See a pattern emerging here?

What you have here though is two fairly comparable products....and one way of gaining customers from one brand to your brand is by showing you have a superior package...and this would do that. No doubt there will be die hard union fans but it would give league a unique oppurtunity to attract new fans who usually wouldn't watch it due to bias.

So if the England Union team suddenly became the best team in the world and won the world cup again in a blaze of publicity would you get rid of your RL shirt and go out and buy a Nike one with a big red rose on it?

No neither would I

But that would be us watching a union team playing union, it wouldnt capture my imagination at all. But if they beat our boys in a cross-code game or showed me that there was something worth watching I'd certainly take more of an interest. And I am, like most I imagine on a RL forum, a diehard leaguey.

You will never fully convert the diehards, but for the casual follower, if a specacle shows how good league is, in a direct comparison to union, that would generate great publicity and attract a few extra fans....and we all know once you've had a taste of this game you are hooked.

Also if you saw England Rl get thrashed by the |Union team, it would be hard to watch knowing that there is a betterstandard of rugby being played down the road (albeit at an inferior code). That would be what fans of the Reds, Waratahs and Melbourne would be faced with.

Because it is a miserable wretch of a game?

No. It'll never happen, nor should it ever happen.

Wycliff Palu and Rocky Elsom. both were reserve grade players in RL and are now stars for the wallabies

indeed both their RL clubs told them to go to union

why would any league fan want to watch players that failed at our code

a parasitic lieing code which cant compete with RL fairly because it loses every time so it has to cheat to survive

when someone is on their knees their is usually one thing id offer them

the bledisloe cup game got destroyed by the nrl ratings.

crowds are down.

union people say its boring.

the success of the soceroos is the nail in the coffin.

The fat ladies not singing just yet, the Australian S14 teams are averging bigger crowds than 75% of NRL teams but it is in serious decline and with no WC or Int success to shore it up another couple of dire seasons at S14 level will see it slip further down the pecking order.
