| Not read this thread all the way through so sorry its been mentioned but I dont get why this incident is causing such a stir compared to when Hull played away at Catalans last year (may have been the year before actually, but think it was last year). The home fans were throwing loads of beer on the pitch during the second half and at the end, throwing lots of things at the ref, including a flag pole. If your going to punish one club, then punish them all. Makes me think they are only making an example of Cas because the game was on Sky and therefore cant brush it under the carpet

| Quote ="gutterfax"Is there CCTV in the ground at Castleford? If so, then bottle throwers should be identified and not only banned for life, but also prosecuted. As for the angry mob waiting for the Ref after the game, if they are on camera then they should again be looking at a ban.
I used to be a season ticket holder at Celtic and I remember the fear and hate on the terraces......it's one of the reasons I have no interest in soccer any more and why I watch Rugby League.
If the RFL make an example of Castleford, then I am sure loads on here will say it's unfair because of previous instances going unpunished, but they need to start somewhere and as unjust as it may seem to punish the innocent 99.9% of Castleford fans, if nothing is done, then this kind of behaviour will start to creep into our game and drive families away.'" how long have you been watching Rugby there always been bits of trouble i will say it again it not good but it was not half as bad as people are making out and no i was not involved.

Been playing and watching Union since I could walk and League for 8......and I have no time for anyone who throws a bottle, plastic pint pot, coin, lighter or even a wobbly as the result of a sporting "injustice".
The Lions on Saturday showed how it should be done. Dodgy ref from last week became dodgier linesman this week and the management and fans accept his decision. Castleford fans feel aggrieved and spit their dummies out big style.....great example to set the Kids.
RESPECT used to be the moral high ground that Rugby (both codes) took when compared to soccer.....Alas, it seems that some people think it's OK to abuse the official (and I don't mean chants) and throw items onto the pitch towards players who have spent 80 minutes putting their bodies on the line.
Sorry, there is no excuse for it. Castleford RLFC need to send out a message that this is unacceptable by banning anyone involved in this sorry affair. To do anything else erodes the respect that we have as a family sport.
For the record, I swear like a docker at games sometimes, but if I ever threw anything on the pitch I would expect to be banned for life. Anyone who thinks the behaviour at Castleford is excuseable needs their heads looking at

| So far this afternoon I’ve -
- PM’d a RLFANS admin asking if we can have a “Better Match Day Experience Fans Association” forum so we can have an online home base.
- Emailed my local MP asking for support and publicity
Exciting times!

"Tigers fans were, at the time, incensed by the performance of the referee in the game against Catalans Dragons and we are aware that some plastic bottles were thrown onto the pitch at the end of the game.
The Tigers CEO Richard Wright said: “I spoke with many fans at the end of the game and they felt bitterly disappointed with some of the referee’s decisions."
Sorry, but that is Justin Morgan territory. RESPECT....the campaign set up by the RFL has no chance if a senior person can get away with this.
The referee, right or wrong, makes decisions and they are final. To add the bit that I have put in bold is excusing the actions of fans.

So saying the fans weren't happy with the ref is the same as a coach saying a referee isn't up to standard and it was his fault Hull KR always lose when he's an official?
Like he did again in the League Express this week

No, what I am saying is that the statement from the club should simply be
"regardless of any perceived injustice, the club will not tolerate any abuse of officials or the throwing of objects and anyone found to have taken part in this sad episode will be banned for life and reported to the police"
Not........as has been done here, "they had a point".
Referees will always make mistakes (believe me, I have almost had heart attacks over some of Gansons), but they deserve our support and protection. Castlefords statement is an attempt to placate fans whilst being seen to do the right thing.
In other words, not worth the paper it was written on. I would love to be proved wrong, but IMO, not 1 fan will be issued with a ban over this!

I must have missed the part where Cas have actually said that those people had a point. As far as I can see, nowhere in that have the club said that they agree the ref was wrong.
They are simply stating the reason as to why bottles were thrown.

I cold go on [iall day[/i.
The sad truth is that mainly drunken young lads off council estates the length and bredth of the country see what happens at football and what happens on their estates and think it is acceptable to act like s 'cause they've had a few beers. Unfortunately for us, there are those who populate RL terraces that can't afford to go to the chavball, so they get in Rugby matches where it's considerably cheaper and go 'for the banter'. Sadly, throwing bottles and being abusive is part of their perception of 'banter'.'"

When Leeds fans littered the pitch in bottles, they got let off...Catalan players mocking Cas fans (which started the throwing according to people in the WRE) get let off, the Catalan player that threw a bottle back and hit a fan gets let off...but yeah typical RFL make an example out of Cas ala McGoldrick getting banned for something Fozzard gets away with every week

Well done for stating the bleeding obvious
Apparently, on this site stating facts which have happened means you're being biased/condoning thug like behaviour as opposed to highlighting previous cases which were in fact worse.
But what I think the RFL will be more concerned about is the 1000+ fans that stood behind the main stand and were after both Ian Smith & Phil Bentham.

| First all i think throwing bottles on to the pitch or trying to hit Refs is stupid But these are reasons i know why this happend on Saturday.
1st thing a lot lot of Cas fans are verry bitter with the RLF with the unfairness some teams seam to get looked after better than others.
2 After Cas fans paid good money like other good Rugby fans to go to Scotland we was blatent robbed by 2 very bad decisions which cost us game leaving myself and others seathing and even on sky they said it was wrong what got done nothing apart from hull got the points.
3 might seam nothing but the Clown on Boots and all Cullen and Eddie could not even be botherd to show 1 Cas try and all they talked about was the Giants might seam nothing but when you have not won a game for 5 matchs it very anoying.
4 After the first try Catalan Scored and did not go to the screen the anger began to boil over i could people who been going to Cas for years start loose it you new there was going to be bother.

So by your own statement, you know that three of the four issues that caused fans to do some of the most idiotic of actions possible were nothing to do with the refereeing in the actual match?? Christ you'll be saying it was a full moon next!!

We try, but we occasionaly get the planks who wreck it for us all.
On a serious note, no winding the cas fans up. I feel sorry for the cas fans who make the club it is, got some top mates who watch the club every week, whether its at Hull KR or at Harlequins.
All in all some great fans, just wish everybody was the same.
Hope it all gets sorted guys.
