| I think what a lot of fans from both clubs fail to realise is that Wakefield benefit from a strong and well-supported Castleford club and vica versa. In terms of away support (and therefore cash) the game between the clubs is often one of the best attended due to the local rivalry and close proximity to each other. It benefits both clubs for the other to succeed, bringing more supporters and increasing cash into both clubs.
In terms of new stadia, neither club seem to be ready to start building. Without being an expert, Cas simply don't have the cash and (as I understand but may be wrong) Newmarket will not be built until a certain number of warehouse units are built and occupied, which could be years down the line judging by the amount of already-empty warehouse space within only a few miles of the site.
I'd groundshare if it meant the future success of the clubs, if Inter Milan and AC Milan can share the San Siro I'm sure we can manage it.

The thing is Notts, most fans from Wakefield and Cas know full well that we benefit from each other. It's a great rivalry well worth marketing. It's only when outsiders start pushing the ground share that the arguements start and because the ground situations aren't sorted yet, we start the one upmanship routine.

One could argue that had Wigan not spent over the cap and Cas had signed Dobson, Cas would have stayed in SL. There is a much wider picture to take into consideration but being an anti-Cas Leeds fan, I don't suppose you see much outside of black and white.'"
One could argue that but they would look silly, Wigan finished three places above Castleford. Castleford weren’t relegated because Wigan overspent on the cap, they were relegated because they finished in a relegation place, Wigan weren’t because they finished a quarter of the league away from a relegation place.

I assume you come from some posh place where a square root has a posh spelling then?
Never a winning argument to poke fun at the way someone speaks or where they come from. Just shows no depth to your point.
I think what Fully and Vastman are saying is that Wigan got away with cheating as the pennalty received didn't match the advantage they received by over spending. Unfortunately that is now history but the point stands for future offenders.

Wigan overspending is no more relevant to that than St’s and Bradford breaking the SC, or Wakefield, or Hull. There were 10 other (relevant) teams in that League, Cas only needed to finish ahead of one of them, they failed so they were relegated.
Whatever punishment the RFL dished out to Wigan wouldn’t have made that years Cas side any better.

True enough, however, if they (The RFL) had realised that by Wigan signing Dobson would take them over the cap, it would have made the Wigan side worse, if the transfer had been refused, and I presume that’s why the “live cap” was introduced.

It wasn’t that it took them over the cap, because it didn’t, Wigan didn’t go over the cap. What they did was renegotiate contracts with players for lower wages that year, and higher wages the next. Not in itself against the cap at that time. Afterwards the RFL decided that it was a deliberate attempt to circumvent the cap, outlawed it and retrospectively punished Wigan

| So they cheated and its OK because its Wigan, they would not have been relegated and Hull KR would have had to suffer, but a cheat is a cheat, and Wigan did Just that, they also brought Radlinski back, but he played for the love of it, Cas tried to sign Dobson and weren't allowed, but Wigan signed him, it did not mater that they were at the cap at the start of the season, but if you condone cheating then fare enough.

| Can somebody clarify something? i thought there was something in the SL licencing that meant that ground sharing wasnt allowed. In fact i heard that had Langtree Park not been completed for the 2012 season, St helens had to move out of the Stobart on Widnes admission into SL (although sharing with Wigan at the DW was OK as Wigan actually only "rent the space"icon_wink.gif. Would any ground sharing between Castleford and Wakefield therefore only take place if they both rented from ANO?

Somkey, you appear to have a selective memory.
When Noble took over at Wigan, they were in deep mire and but for drivina a bus throught the salary cap they would have finished bottom of the pile.
They bought Fielden from Bradford and good old Radlinski played for nowt and they then crawled up to third from bottom but, without their overspend they looked naild on wooden spoon winners and to top off their rule bending they managed to employ smarter lawyers than the RFL and have thier points deduction halved on a technicality.
Of course Cas were poor that year but if they had added Fielden and Radlinski to their squad, i'm sure you would have seen an improvement.

No, but it could/should have made that year's Wigan side worse. That surely can't be that difficult to understand?
Teams don't always need to get better to move up the league. Other teams can get worse.

The ground at Newmarket will be a community stadium and certainly not owned by Wakefield Trinity.
They do have an agreement to be anchor tennants, however, it is extremely likely that other sports will be played there, with Wakefield City FC being lined up to play there and why not have Cas sharing ?
Having said that, their supporters aren't too keen to watch their "home" games at Wakefield, just as Wakefield fans didn't want to see their "home" games at the proposed Glasshoughton Stadium.
IMO, IF either team was to share the others stadium, there would be further pressure for a merger, which again, neither sets of supporters are in favour of.

And that has nothing to do with how bad Cas were.
Saints, Bradford and Hull have also broken the Salary Cap, that also has nothing to do with how bad Cas's playing record has been in the professional era.
None of Wigans breaking of the cap does anything to mitigate how poor Cas’s playing record is.
An argument that says Cas’s playing record might be possibly, slightly better by default if something other than what actually happened, happened and Wigan were worse than they were in reality, is an embarrassingly poor argument

I think that years ago the two clubs should have got together and built a stadium at Glasshoughton, There is not a better geographical position for a club anywhere. I think owned and operated by the two clubs it would be an outstanding asset to RL in the WMDC, its pretty easy to get to, there is loads of stuff to do around it, and there are some big companies to engage with near it, it really is ideal, and I think both clubs paying for it, and owning half of it would have made it a fairly easy sell to the fans, but that opportunity is gone.
Newmarket on the other hand isn’t really near anything, 12k isn’t particularly ambitious as a size, its not difficult to get to but its not hard either. If done well, there is no reason Wakefield cant make a big success of it, and I hope they do, there aren’t the positives that Glasshoughton has, but there are no particular negatives either.
