however
It was during the game, that was it. He was daft at times, but at the end of the day, its a game and not everyone will agree with the calls
worry about your teams performance at the end of the day

| disgusted with the bottle throwers and tbh im not suprised what went off because due to poor stewarding and mindless idiots this has been on the cards for sometime which many a cas fan will agree with.
it doesnt look good either that on the very night the poo its the fan the club offered massive discounts on drinks aswell has a happy hour on a saturday night "what a recipe for disaster".
i didnt witness any of the bottle throwing has i stand in the open end at the far side of the ground but what i witnessed after the game with around 100 people waiting for the ref to come out from dressing rooms to confront him, thankfully this was averted by ian smith been ushered away from the other end of the ground.
some so called suppporters should hang their heads in shame the way they carried on and it wasnt all kids and it wasnt all part timers it was people i see at games week in week out both at home and away who go to games with family.all in all a bad night for the club and i only hope that the club dont suffer for the result of a minority.

| Tbh I think it would be unfair for cas to be made an example of when so many teams have seen trouble i the past.
Only this season i was coined at Knowsley Road and nothing went on there.
Deal with it internally and gets some banned given out.

| I can't believe that with the economy the way it is, people would willingly waste perfectly good beer. That is as big a disgrace as anything IMO.
I didn't see the referee get anything majorly wrong tbh and I really couldn't understand the frustrations of the Cas crowd. It sounded as though they were fit to riot there and then throughout the second half.
It seems most of the Yorkshire pit towns breeds people with a bit of a chip on their shoulder and go out spoiling for a fight for unjustifiable reasons. I blame Thatcher.

| 6 pages and nobody has hit the nail on the head yet.
The match officials were spot on with the decisions but it's still understandable in the heat of the moment how people can get frustrated.
It seems everytime Cas score on a TV game it goes to the Video ref, that looks at every angle frame by frame until they find one frame from one angle that looks dubious and the try is disallowed, while nearly all the Dragon's trys were awarded on the spot.
They had one try disallowed and you saw the reaction from Kevin Walters afterwards booting the chair in front of him, so even opposition coaches get frustrated when only one try gets chalked off.Add to that all the head high tackles and the Rangi Chase penalty, all of which the ref was right but the penalty against Rangi was harsh. The punishment did not fit the crime and i think the RFL should look at maybe changing the rules on that.
But none of that was the reason why, or a excuse for the bottle throwing!
This was the first game this season that Cas sold alcohol on the terraces, probably thinking Catalan don't bring any fans so there won't be any trouble, well they got it wrong ,alcohol and frustrated fans don't mix.
The solution is simple,if we want our sport to keep it's family image then stop selling alcohol on the terraces,SIMPLES!
.....and oh P.S to all the Wakey trolls ,get a ing life you sad sad s.

Saturday 6pm = plenty of ale drunk. Simple as that. I always notice a minor element of overly drunk fans at these Saturday kick offs. I've seen it with fellow Wigan fans at Saturday games and Opposition fans aswell. They are probably geniunely good fans normally but the ale turns some people.

| When I heard that Castleford fans were fighting I had one thought running through my head.
Lesbians.
After that though I wondered about the Castford fans all fighting. Why didnt someone just separate the two of them?

| What does anyone expect from Cas fans. It's just their frustration at seeing their once promising season well and truly going down the toilet.
Yeah, blame the ref. Does that explain the other 5 recent defeats too? Cas have always had a thug element at the club, probably Airedale estate's finest doleites.

Yes thats correct because there are only Wakey fans commenting on this thread aren't there? Plus a fair few seem to be defending Cas.

Maybe Ian Henderson was spot on when he described the Castleford culture?
[iResidents of a former mining town in West Yorkshire have rotten teeth, spend too much time drinking and need a bath, an international rugby player has said.
In an interview Ian Henderson, a former Bradford Bulls player and New Zealand Warriors hooker, said Castleford was "the worst place" he had lived in.
Mr Henderson said "moving there just kills you" and added people "drank themselves silly".[/i
[iIn a "Room for Thought" question-and-answer article in Australia's Central Coast Express Advocate newspaper, Mr Henderson was asked for the worst place he had spent any time.
He told the paper: "A place in England called Castleford, in Yorkshire, up north in the middle of the country. You've got no idea.
"I think that and a town next to it called Pontefract. They rate in the 10 worst towns to live in in England, I've heard it rumoured.
"It's dull, always grey, everyone just goes to the pub and drinks themselves silly, there's nothing for young people to do. It's really ugly.
"(There are) Too many mush-ohs - 'mates' in Yorkshire - they've got rotten teeth, need a bath, run around drinking, big beer belly, just watch the footie.[/i

Dear god. If that was a "minor" incident, I dread to think what would be a major incident in your eyes.
The fans who did it were a disgrace - no bones about. Are you seriously saying that players laughing after a win deserve that? Or a referee who got lots of decisions correct, which Cas fans were bloody moaning about, deserved to be bottled etc etc?
Come off it. Deluded.

| FWIW, I don't think Cas should be made an example of, no more than Leeds should've when they littered Wheldon Road with bottles, no more than Warrington were when Lesley Vainakolo was [ihit[/i with a bottle from the South Stand whilst playing, no more than Salford were for throwing Flares, no more than Warrington were when bottles were thrown at Karl Fitzpatrick when he scored at the Willows... I cold go on [iall day[/i.
The sad truth is that mainly drunken young lads off council estates the length and bredth of the country see what happens at football and what happens on their estates and think it is acceptable to act like s 'cause they've had a few beers. Unfortunately for us, there are those who populate RL terraces that can't afford to go to the chavball, so they get in Rugby matches where it's considerably cheaper and go 'for the banter'. Sadly, throwing bottles and being abusive is part of their perception of 'banter'.

How would stopping selling alcohol on the terraces work when, at the vast majority of clubs, people still manage to behave themselves when it's on sale?

| The only thing i want to say is i was shocked and embarrased to call myself a Cas fan on saturday, an utter disgrace.
We lost the game on saturday, our inept attack and poor wide defence. The refereee was not to blame, there may well of been some high shots un-noticed but we do it aswel......

Having a flair in the ground in the first place was against the law, throwing it further broke the law, the club deserved at the very least a fine for that - not just 'fine you've banned him''"
For somebody that did not attend the game you seem to know a great deal and seem to be spending a lot of time defending the indefensible. To make things worse you are now using incidents from other clubs to excuse the actions of idiots. Those clubs you mentioned took the appropriate action and are now trouble free. Lets hope that Cas can do the same for the sake of the club and the good fans that follow the team. Fwiw you would be better employed criticising the idiots what have caused a good club embarassment instead of having a pop at clubs' what have experienced the problem Cas now have on their doorstep. Just a thought.

| Is there CCTV in the ground at Castleford? If so, then bottle throwers should be identified and not only banned for life, but also prosecuted. As for the angry mob waiting for the Ref after the game, if they are on camera then they should again be looking at a ban.
I used to be a season ticket holder at Celtic and I remember the fear and hate on the terraces......it's one of the reasons I have no interest in soccer any more and why I watch Rugby League.
If the RFL make an example of Castleford, then I am sure loads on here will say it's unfair because of previous instances going unpunished, but they need to start somewhere and as unjust as it may seem to punish the innocent 99.9% of Castleford fans, if nothing is done, then this kind of behaviour will start to creep into our game and drive families away.

| Not read this thread all the way through so sorry its been mentioned but I dont get why this incident is causing such a stir compared to when Hull played away at Catalans last year (may have been the year before actually, but think it was last year). The home fans were throwing loads of beer on the pitch during the second half and at the end, throwing lots of things at the ref, including a flag pole. If your going to punish one club, then punish them all. Makes me think they are only making an example of Cas because the game was on Sky and therefore cant brush it under the carpet
