I’ll probably reserve judgement until the Leeds coach at least has his first choice front row and perhaps his stand-off (and probably most potent attacking player) back playing

| It is too early to talk of sacking McDermott but things don't look good for Leeds. Missing Leuluai and Delaney cost us a lot of go-forward (in addition to long-term absentees Peacock, Bailey & McGuire). A bigger worry is our defence which has been poor in every game this season. This new emphasis on throwing the ball around also tends to backfire as much as resulting in points for Leeds.
I hate to say it, but Leeds under McDermott so far are beginning to look more and more like Bradford under McNamara. Let's see how Mac goes with a few more first choice props fit...

| Why do Warrington need Myler to call shots when they have Monaghan and Briers doing a fine job of it already! Give the kid a chance and he might just surprise a few, after all, as mentioned before, we lost only 2 of ten without Briers last year. Doing a great job for me, more of the same please Richie!

Let's hope so, eh!
In all seriousness, it appears that the British coaches in SL are way behind the Aussie ones. McNamara, Agar, McDermott haven't taken their clubs in the right direction. Kear has an inconsistent track record. Noble has been forced out. There's only Harris and Powell we don't really know about yet, but if their predecessors are anything to go by it won't be looking too good. Powell has gotten off to a good start though at least.

| I'm not sure how much money you think RL players actually earn but with a squad size of 31 players 1.6million dividied by 31 makes an average wage of £50k. The majority of players won't be earning anywhere near that, either.
Morley, King, Monaghans & Briers will be the real high earners in our team. Carvell is a big name, depending on your POV and opinion of his abilities as a player (a lot of oppo fans think he's crap), that doesn't necessarily mean he's a big earner, the same goes for Westwood, Higham & Clark.
Atkins & Myler were high profile signings but again that doesn't mean that their wages are among the top earners bracket (and transfer fees being high doesn't necessarily mean that they're earning 100k+ each either), they're highly rated but have not yet proved their abilities consistently over a number of seasons - They will undoubtedly however end up in that top earners bracket if they remain at the club and keep producing the goods on the field.
Anyway, since we moved to the HJ we've had a lot of people complain about Warrington & the salary cap. On the few occasions that news has broke that some clubs are being investigated re: salary cap breaches, I've been told every time that Warrington are one of the clubs involved and that they heard it from a "good source" - on none of those occasions have Warrington been found to be in breach of the regulations.
IF Warrington ever get found to be in breach of the regulations then I would fully support any sanctions imposed on the club I support as I don't want to see us have any on-field success by cheating the rules that everyone has agreed to play by, but as of right now, that has not yet happened.
It's very good to see other clubs' supporters envious of the squad assembled at Warrington, though.

| Joel will not be on big money. He was also brought in as a replacement for Chris Hicks. You obviously know nothing about the cap as there are ways you can increase it legally, but I'll leave that to you to find it out as I don't think HKR qualify on either count.

| Just to back up a couple of those points your 1.65 (yes thats an extra 50k) million is divided between the top 25 earners isnt it?
Secondly, and this will happen with Hull KR and Hudds tbf. On our 'rise' we were paying over the odds for players like stuart readon, paul rauhihi, vinnie anderson, rob parker and paul johnson, players who required more money to leave their clubs than we should have paid. Thats why you need a core of youth to win Super League and although will compete, simply wont have the depth to win the championship with a team of journeymen such as HKR or we were a few years ago.
People then wonder how you arent cheating the cap when you replace Johnson with Atkins or Rauhihi with Carvell etc but the fact of the matter is they were on far more money than they should have been.
For HKA in this bracket see: Vella, Newton, Webster et al. All decent players but cost more than a locally produced player of a similar standard

I'm not sure on that one ... I'm under the impression it's the entire squad. There did used to be the 20/20 rule, but I think that was gotten rid of a couple of years ago.

its your top 25 earners must not be more than £1.65m (before National Insurance) then you get another £50k for players outside the top 25 who play at least one game, + £50k per club isnt counted from a long serving players contract (likely at Warrington to be Briers)

Interesting. Once upon a time you could download the operational rules from the RFL website, might be worth me having a hunt around to see if there's a downloadable PDF that explains the SC rules.

| Im not sure about that tbh.
Leeds are weakened by not having their main front row available, their primary half back and they were playing at our gaff. Send our lot to Headingly without Morley, Carvell, Bridge and Briers and I think we'd struggle tbf.
We look like the Leeds team from around 04 and Im not sure Lowes has a lot to do with that either way

I agree with what you're saying there. This has everything to do with Tony Smith. He is an underrated coach and I hope he manages to win you the Super League.

That wasnt quite what I was getting at.
Take Wigan for example. They probably get J Tomkins, Hansen, Coley and O'Loughlin for what KR pay Vella, Newton and Galea. I know which i'd rather have in my side. Locally produced players always come cheaper than bringing in which is why, in a salary capped sport, you MUST have a nucleus of homegrown players otherwise you cannot win Super League. Take a look through the record books over the last ten years, no team like KR with one or two local products has ever won it.

| As for Warrington's salary cap. I can reveal that come audit time, ours is always one of the first the RFL look at. Not because they suspect foul play, but because our accounts are kept in such impeccable order it's a doddle to do a review of them and they can get it over in 5 minutes. Knowing the people at our club involved in such things, I have always been confident it's never likely to be us getting into salary cap trouble.
