| Quote ="Fantastic Mr Cat"Interesting to note that its a cas fan back there sacking it off, if they ever get their fingers out and get a new ground, they'll reap the benefits of such, for example, as a wire fan i got to see New Zealand v Australia at the HJ, that still blows my mind as a long term rugby league fan.
I love going to new grounds i've never been before, i love playing new teams i've never seen us play in my 20 something years watching.
I got to see Billy Slater, Akuila Uate,Willie Tonga Chris Lawrence Darius Boyd Darren Lockyer (c)Johnathan Thurston Paul Gallen Cameron Smith Matthew Scott Luke Lewis Sam Thaiday Anthony Watmough Cooper Cronk Keith Galloway David Shillington Tony Williams Kevin Locke Kalifa Faifai Loa Lewis Brown Gerard Beale Jason Nightingale Benji Marshall (c) Kieran Foran Ben Matulino g Issac Luke Sam McKendry Sika Manu Simon Mannering Jeremy Smith Thomas Leuluai Fuifui Moimoi Alex Glenn Jared Waerea-Hargreaves
all on my doorstep.
Last year i got to see the St George Illawara dragons, i'm never going to get to australia as far as i can see, this is fantastic to have them playing in Warrington, and people complain as well as about repetitiveness in Superleague, surely this adds a bit of variety to the season.
Just because your club doesn't stand a chance of being in it, don't write it off, trust me if cas tigers were in it, you'd have a different opinion.'"
Stadium doesn't come into it. I've seen Cas Tigers play Australia, New Zealand and in the ill-fated WCC against Hunter Mariners and Perth Reds - all at Wheldon Road.
I'm "sacking it off" because I see it for what it is. A money making gimmick to get an extra £30 from the paying customer in a series of games the aussies regard as a simple trail game.

Er you do understand that fans are willing to pay to watch the WCC right. I traveled from London to watch Leeds play north Queensland.
Sorry but we have fans here who enjoy the WCC and are happy to pay to watch it and you think it's a good idea to just get rid of it completely. If this was a concept that had fans staying away I could see your argument but at the moment your argument is terribly weak.
Then let's add the projects that the Australian teams take part in with the kids in the week before the game. All of this is beneficial.
How about we ditch the challenge cup? I mean here we have a competition that fans clearly stay away from. Seems to me that fans are not interested in paying for tickets to watch challenge cup games.

Don't worry if your team has that attitude you won't be parting with £30 any time soon and if they manage to get involved I hope that you are sat in the Boot Room moaning the futility of it all.......on your own

Melbourne officially decline invitation.
Melbourne Storm reject 2017 World Club Series invite - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/37606262
Interesting that i read today that Wigan had already agreed to play against Brisbane at Suncorp stadium if they had lost on Saturday.

| Can anyone really blame them? Concept is fine, it's the logistics. If we want to keep this going we're going to have to play more of the games in Aus.

Only Wigan would generate sufficient interest from fans in Australia for it to be financially viable there.

| It seems more NRL clubs are not keen on the World Club series - The World club challenge is a genuine meaningful game even to the Aussies these days but rightly I agree the other games have very little meaning - I remember Sky sports billing it Australia V England - If thats the case just have an Australia v England game
This is not a negative post - Far from it I would love to see a major International club comp, I think it would be great if it was done as a major comp - But what we had this year was a major game, with two Trial matches as the Aussies put it and simply there not wrong
WCC - Cronnula V Wigan or Wigan V Cronulla will be good either way for me

Spot on. It took a while for the Aussies to take the main game seriously again, why we thought that 2 extra teams would always be up for games that had nothing to win on the line I don't know. Problem we/the game has with doing anything along the lines of an international club competition or even internationals is that the only proper opposition we can face is from the other side of the world and logistically I can understand why Aussie clubs don't want to come here as they're trying to prepare for their season.

| Whats the purpose of the WCC? The Aussies are in pre season training, the UK teams usually 2-4 games in. Both with different sets of players.
I'm struggling with the intent particularly the 6 team format. Maybe both GF winners playing each other 2 weeks after there respective finals might be the way forward.(I recognise the NRL final is a week earlier than ours!)

| I like the WCC as long as it's one game, don't see the point in 3 games, who cares about second vs second in a one off game to prove who the best second team are ?? Wouldn't mind a 4 team round robin but we don't have room in the calendar. No wonder a high percentage of the nrl can't be bothered I don't blame them, it's a long way to travel for a pointless game to keep warrington/Leeds/Wigan happy. Nothing was wrong with champions vs champions for a trophy.

| Best suggestion i've seen in a long while has been doing the rounds.
Having an NRL & Super League Grand Final rematch at Wembley early in the season. So this year it'd be Wigan - Warrington following by Cronulla - Melbourne. Two competitive meaningful fixtures, and chance to market tickets to both the heartlands and the Aussies in London.
It's surely a better sell for the NRL teams than the current options?

I dont see the point in that? It would be better if it was Wigan v Cronulla and Wire v Melbourne in a double header at Wembley...but even then, it wouldnt be anywhere near a large crowd

Considering Saracens can get big crowds for a RU league game at Wembley I not so sure about that.
Yes if the NRL don't bother with any marketing but if the NRL decide to really make a go of this then I don't see why we couldn't get a bumper cry at Wembley or the Olympic stadium.
People will pay for live sport if they feel its a big event.
