Well put: I hope they persist with 'the Rugby League of the Extraordinary' for a long time to come because I think it's a very workable template to vary upon. The best advertising campaigns are the ones that evolve over time from a good premise and I hope that this is ours.

On the Wiggins one, I found it really well done, well timed and an interesting departure from the norm of not-so-great highlight packages put together a bit too quickly.

I hope the trend of improving advertising (at least centrally) continues!

I think it's alright. I love the fact that Wiggins is in it but I'd personally have enjoyed seeing some clips at the end. I seem to be in the minority on this one though.

I still think it'd be great (for RL certainly) if they could get Sinfield and Wayne Rooney in some sort of advert or media event. Rooney is a Rhinos fan. If they could get them together, you could have Sinfield take some free-kicks and Rooney kick some conversions.

Union did the same I think with Wilkinson and Beckham? Good idea though. I hope this isn't a one off

The struggle with that is that most celebrities dont have a contract with Sky. But i see your premise,

a goalkeeper talking about diving on the ball in a crowded box, then showing a RL fullback diving on a kick and being tackled on the ground..

That's one of the good things about the advert, Him, it can be easily built upon.

It would be great to see a series of these adverts with other athletes who are fans of our sport, Rooney or Ferdinand being the two that jump out.

I don't have Sky Sports myself, but is the advert on Sky Sports actually shown in full? Seems a bloody long advert if that's the case, which is even better!

I think the ad loses it's impact if you add anything to the end.

The advert finishes with the most respected endurance athlete in the world saying "Rugby League is too tough for me." That's a bloody powerful and an intriguing message to be left with.

Fantastic advert and finally some high production values. Personally I hate the hard rock music, robot over glossy presentation that sky usually do, something with a bit of class and style has far far more impact.

Cudos for getting Wiggins on board too, agree with having a few of these with the likes of Rooney.

A Wilkinson/Beckham style ad would be cool. But that was for Adidas IIRC. But if Sky could get Sinfield and Rooney together for a 'kick about' type scenario it would be a hell of a scoop.

Although people like Rooney and Rio etc might want to help you cant get close to them due to agents who want to charge for everything and other sponsors who have a big say

In the case or Rooney everything he does has to be ok'd by NIKE, they pay him so much the have a lot of control. All of a sudden its costs £100,000 Rooney to make an apperance

Great stuff from Wiggins, i agree though, we should have used 1 or 2 more well known sports stars who like our game.

Graeme Swann is always tweeting about Warrington, would have been good to do another advert with him bowling at Adrian Morley or Jamie Peacock and them smashing the ball miles out of the stadium.....or something along them lines.

Wayne Rooney and Kevin Sinfield are both very ugly men. We ought to be careful letting them share the same lens in our name.

I thought that was brilliant. Subtle, underplayed and leaves people thinking whats this rugby league all about if Wiggins couldnt do it but wished he could.

I think the advert is great and a big improvement on previous years but even as a Wigan fan I am uncomfortable with just Sam Tomkins, a player that may potentially go to Rugby Union or at best the NRL in a year or two, being the sole focal point and the face of Rugby League in the country. What kind of message does it send if the casual viewer, or indeed youngster playing the game, sees the face of Rugby League, potentially the only play they know and going by the advert and Eddie and Stevo's ramblings the player they see as the best in English RL, go off and play Rugby Union. Adding say Sinfield and Roby would have pushed more players into the national consciousness and shown that Sam Tomkins is not the only good RL player. It also limits the damage somewhat if Tomkins does indeed go to Union.

hope they're contacting Rooney, Rio and any other high profile star that loves the game for some follow-up adverts.
