| Quote ="Wellsy13"Nobody is worried about the fortunes of Wakefield. We just have a passing interest on how our coach (who has drained the life out of the fans for three years) will do, especially as he is also taking some of our players with him (the ones he deemed weren't good enough for us, but apparently thinks are good enough for you?). That's not meant as a dig at Wakefield. That's meant as a dig at Agar's thinking.'"
The mass influx of FC fans (who, by the way as a whole I do like) says otherwise.
We have every man and his dog from FC telling us this, that and the other.
Its rather draining.

You are right,it is draining.I was one of the posters accused of gloating.I was not in fact, although I do realise I did repeat myself, which I didn`t realise until it was pointed out I am a boring barsteward.
I think the feeling of massive relief he has gone has overwhelmed some of us.

| It'll be interesting to see how Agar does at wakey. After what was a bit of an unexpected SL reprieve, really there shouldn't be too much pressure on him, but on the other hand his reputation may precede him thanks to such glowing references from hull fans. With this in mind WTW supporters might start getting a bit nippy if he doesn't bring about instant results.
Considering the strength of ill-feeling towards him, fc are obviously going to be world-beaters now they've finally ridden themselves of the reason for their underachievement.
Interesting times ahead...

| I think hull fans would be delighted if their ill feeling prompted wakey fans to get on his back sooner than they normally would.
They've got a personal vendetta (who can blame them?) and will not stop until he's signing on.

Well can you imagine how annoyed we'd be if he suddenly turned into a world beating coach?! Us Hull fans deserve to see him fail!
I wonder if he'll try and convince Cookey out of his RL break to join him? Cockayne is rumoured to be going there as well. Wakefield could be the new Rovers!

Id say most fans are glad hes gone but still wish him well. I wouldnt write him off making a good coach one day but the Hull job was too big too soon in his career and he was out of his depth.

The best conclusion I can draw from a statement like that, is that you've got too much time on your hands.

| He has had a bad press and in the last two seasons over achieved with an average squad. The board gave him the head coach job purely because he would be grateful and they could control him and decide the recruitment for themselves.
Give the guy a break....i hope he goes well at wakefield.

An average squad that he picked.
Our starting 17 was definitely above average IMO. Many internationals amongst them. Plenty of up and coming youngsters. And they just played awfully.

| As a Hull fan of many years I can state for certain that I am overjoyed that he has gone. I feel very sorry for WTW's fans especially one of my good mates who has gone through every emotion possible over the years as a WTW fan.
I never wanted him as our HC and truth be told I never gave him a chance. If I did it probably lasted no more than 6 games. Under him and Uncle Kath my passion for my team has almost been extinguished. Our play has been dull. Our mistakes have never been rectified despite him identifying them and frankly whatever anyone says that is all down to him. Yes I suspect Uncle Kath stiffled him and the teams progress at times, but christ if that was the case why didn't he man up and sort it out?
Whilst HFC squad is not the best it was certainly better than scraping into 8th spot. He has developed very few players and some have seriously stagnated under him. Ironically some he will be coaching next year.
I do wish him well and hope he can prove to be a half decent coach at SL level. I do not wish to see him fail, imo he has already done that.
As for Hull FC for once we as fans feel optimistic and for good reason. Most of us expect progress not earth shattering success. Christ we have learnt to be patient. I feel top four is an achievable target add to that a challenge cup win against a SL team and a play off victory and we will have reason to be a little more cheerful than we have been since Agar took over.

| This is hilarious stuff from Hull fans and the token Bradford fan (what great coaches they employ).
This was the same claptrap they all posted about Kear - this is the same Kear who has for the last 5 years continually taken Hulls pants down whether with or without Agar as Coach. Not all the time I grant you, we did lose to Agars team in the CCup Semi Final.
There will be tears by the end of SL and I wouldn't bet on them being shed at BV either. Hull fans or should I say the cretins who post on the VT need to stop this petty bitching and concentrate on there own team. Gentle is totally untested at this level and even Aussies fail from time to time. May well be a case of better the devil you know as indeed it may be for us OR it could be a case that Agar fits at Trinity in a way he didn't at Hull - this is what happens in real life.

In 2007 and 2008 we won 4 out of the 5 league games played over the two seasons. Agar was in charge for the rest of the 5 year period you mention so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make there TBH as nobody has ever suggested that Agar was a better coach than Kear.
Gentle is an unknown quantity and I for one am not making any predictions of instant success. If we still had Agar in charge I'd happily be predicting another season of mediocrity and failure with a good degree of confidence based entirely on his record over an extended period. In this case the devil you don't know is preferable and TBH doesn't have to do much to make an improvement.
Agar may well do better at Wakey than he did at Hull for a variety of reasons. That doesn't change the fact that he was a failure at Hull or that the vast majority of Hull fans are happy to see the back of him. Some of the comments posted have been OTT but that's a reflection of the frustration built up over the last 3-4 years and the relief that a change has finally happened.

So you thought you'd add to the perceived hilarity?
Quote ="vastman"This was the same claptrap they all posted about Kear - this is the same Kear who has for the last 5 years continually taken Hulls pants down whether with or without Agar as Coach. Not all the time I grant you, we did lose to Agars team in the CCup Semi Final.'"
Kear's record against Hull (without Agar) - 2007: W1 L2, 2008: W0 L1
Kear's record against Hull (with Agar) - 2008: W0 L2, 2009: W2 L0, 2010: W1 L1, 2011: W1 L1
So continually taking our pants down without Agar was one win in four, and taking our pants down with Agar was 4 from 8?
I'd have thought to have continually taken Hull's pants down, he'd have to surely have better than a 50% record?
Think someone needs to check their stats...

I think the Hull fans sense of optimism is more to do with the arrival of Adam Pearson rather than the arrival of Gentle. At least we know that under Pearson, if Gentle doesn't live up to expectation he will be chopped. People can say that Agar was hampered by the board all they want (and by the sounds of things, he probably was), but he should have been a big enough man to stand up to the board and make change instead of being a yes man and letting his reputation get dragged through the mud.
Agar may be a tremendous coach if the correct things are put in place (and I truly believe he is), but he is not the kind of person that can get things done if they aren't, and he has proven that undoubtedly over his 3.5 years as the head guy at Hull. I things are in place at Wakefield under your new board, then he may kick on. But if things aren't, he'll struggle.
Kear's issue was that he lost the dressing room at Hull. He appears to have learned from that at his time with Wakefield. He also sacrificed consistency for winning big games, and it didn't always work. Got us the cup like, so can't complain! But it left him off-guard a lot and got us some humiliating defeats.

| a neat bit of symmetry is that agar has taken over from kear at wakey, and at hull when kear was sacked agar took over as caretaker for 4 games whilst sharpe was sourced. we won 3 of those 4 games, talk about a false dawn
