| Quote ="Big Steve"Amazed by the level of outrage over the refs performance.
The obstruction was at least a 50:50 call, sometimes given others not. I'm pretty sure this has happened in lots of games without a 10 page outrage thread. I think the fact that everyone wanted the impressive skill shown by Leeds to be rewarded with a try - tough.
The 'knock on' was easily missed, initially looked like Smiths leg hit the ball. Hardly an outrageous mistake by the ref.
The play before the ref missed a much more blatant leg pull at the play the ball. Not much outrage about that here?
It seems however that Leeds have been the victims on one of the worst referee performance in history!'"
Obstruction = "50/50"
Knock on = "easily missed"
Leg Pull = "blatant"

Whereas the Leeds perspective is
Obstruction = 100% innocent
Knock on = clear as day
Leg Pull = not worthy of a single mention
No bias from you lot

You can mention the leg pull (wasn't even a pull, he just kept hold) but I've see neutral fans seemingly in the camp of the obstruction being harsh/wrong and the knock on being clearly wrong and them not viewing the leg "pull" as anything other than a 50/50. It's just clutching at straws from Wigan fans that if they highlight the leg "pull" it somehow makes Smith's knock on ok.

Pulling the leg of the player as he plays the ball is now 50/50 is it? Lemme guess, penalty when it's done to Leeds, no penalty when it's done by them.
And I've no idea why you think we would need to clutch at straws. [iWe [/ibeat [iyou[/i. We beat you because you made too many mistakes and couldn't score enough points despite having free reign to do so off the back of forward passes. We beat you because you couldn't stop us scoring despite being allowed offside at many a PTB. We beat you because your players mistimed a run and crossed in an otherwise well played try scoring opportunity. And finally, we beat you because Paul Aiton is a twonk. None of those happen and you win. But no, it's all somebody else's fault and none of you are biased.

I've no idea either but trying to claim Smith's knock on going undetected is some sort of karma instead of just admitting it was wrong strikes me as clutching at straws.

You might have a point (for once) if I was sat here saying it's all Silverwood's fault but I'm not. I am debating the decisions which I'm free to do on a message board on a thread that topic is about the ref decisions, if you want to start another thread on here on the VT about the game without the issue of ref calls then so be and discuss the other issues in the game.....also let me guess you've not discussed ref decisions post match now have you?

The obstruction was obviously debate able , the rules are open to interpretation and could have gone the other way just as easily. That sounds 50:50 to me!
The knock on was easily missed. Commentators and ref and linesmen all missed it in real time. Sounds like easily missed is pretty accurate.
The leg pull was the most clear cut of the lot.
A pretty fair assessment i think regardless of who you support.

Had the correct decision been made we would have been given a penalty before the knock on ever happened. If you don't accept that what Hall did was illegal then you really are taking bias to a whole new level!

We've all discussed ref issues but come on, it's been 11 pages! You lot have lived up to your nickname. As someone said upthread it's as though you've been on the end of the worst refereeing display in history when in fact he got calls wrong for both sides. Had they only gone one way I could understand the outrage, but they didn't. You scored off a forward pass, you pinned us in our 20 and got the ball back off a dodgy offside call, you didn't get penalised for the interference. The offside call was contentious but was 50/50 at worst and only occurred because of an error on the part of Leeds players. And until Aiton tried to cheat it would have been the draw everybody thought was a fair result. He lost you that game.

The reason it's 11 pages, is that Leeds have the most fans so it obviously draws more posters and more comments. If it happened to Huddersfield it'd draw about 4 posters.
That's the difference in thread length.

Phil Clarke called it a knock on against Smith straight away......a decision doesn't get more clear cut than that if Clarke goes against Wigan.
Despite neutrals highlighting the obstruction and the knock on as the big and possibly incorrect ones we get Wigan fans desperately trying to make out the leg "pull" (actually leg hold) as the biggest clear cut incorrect call.

The reason it's 11 pages is due to the sense of entitlement of Whinos fans who appear to think referees should ignore their team's transgressions to ensure the win.

No it really is because more fans = more posters, hence more people to have a say on the match....simple as that really.
Nothing to do with a bigger outrage or a bigger entitlement.

Ignore the tone and look at the incidents. 2 clearly incorrect calls directly effected the score, both times in your favour. Why wouldn't we be annoyed?

No please learn to read.
I think it's a touch and go incident. Unlike an obvious knock on from Smith which isn't debatable or matter of opinion....it was just flat out wrong.
Like I said Sarginson has planted the ball down before regaining his feet so he hasn't exactly tried to PTB correctly so both playing are trying to gain an advantage that you could argue cancels each other out.

| All I get from that is that Silverwood is a cheating C U Next Tuesday.
If that's Andys opinion he's entitled to it.
Its common knowledge for decades that some refs love/hate some clubs. The old school talk about it at functions and after dinner speaking.
I've seen Ganson give a pentalty for a forward pass, the team penalised just happened to be in a tight game against Saints! True story.

| all the non biased whinos fans will be coming up next that ALL the match officials were responsible for the giants defeat at Saints and that Mr silverwood was the reason.
I'll repeat and shout for the hard of joined up thinking!
IF LEEDS RHINOS HAD SCORED MORE POINTS THAN WIGAN WARRIORS THEY WOULD HAVE WON. THEY DIDN'T SO LOST.
Are Leeds supporters prepared to admit they cannot grasp that simple concept?
Next week, next game some other team will "fail to get the rub of the green". That's sport.
Oh, for what it's worth if Sarginson hadn't pulled up, tried a silly flick and passed when instead of going for glory then at least another 12 points for the Warriors. Which of the match officials was responsible for those gaffes?
