I think O'Brien would be a great signing- whichever league we are in next season.
Warrington will have Sandow and Gidley in the halves next year with Ratchford well capable of playing there. They also have Garry Wheeler and the youngster Declan Patton - he looks a real prospect. So I can understand O'Brien's release and would be very surprised if Gaskell moved there.

Get a package together to get him signed asap, seijka and thomas as backups

Frustrating that Wire had such a late change of heart last season, only to play him sporadically - and eventually drop him entirely - throughout 2015, culminating in him being released now. He would have been playing week in, week out for us if the loan had gone through.

But these things happen I suppose, and as I've said before I would hope that Jimmy/Steve have kept an eye on Gareth during this season, with Jimmy using his ties at Warrington to perhaps get us a jump on the competition for his signature.

Let's get him signed asap. He may well bide his time though pending who will be in Super League next year but we certainly need a specialist scrum half.

If he was needed last year he is needed even more this next year after playing a season without a SH. We should let a few players go who have not played and offer GOB and Gaskell good money to be our half back pairing. I would also not completely write off Seijka just yet. Lets see what he is like when he is fully fit for a few months. We need a proper 2nd team against SL 2nd teams so players like him can play every week against good opposition.

It'll come down to money. If we're still in the Championship then I doubt we'll be able to compete with SL clubs. Reckon Wakey might be in for a SH too if Tim Smith leaves.

Does GOB now hold the Guinness world record for being released from consecutive contracts? Anyway, there is no chance he would ask to be released if he didn't already have his next job lined up, subject to there being no fee involved, which of course is the point of a "release". If he didn't have a new job, then no way would he ask for a release cos that is like asking them to stop paying your contracted wage.

Let's hope it's us. He would be fine for us next season whatever league we may end up in.
