| I've just been asked this question on Twitter and I honestly can't answer it after seeing how well Briggs did in the partnership with Jeffries today.
I think it could be a case of letting the extended pre-season dictate who should start next season.

| Gale at 6 with Briggs at 7. If Gale has 1 or 2 poor games in a row swap with Jeffries and if Briggs has 1 or 2 bad games in a row swap with Sammut.

| When they were at Leeds wasn't it Briggs 6, Gale 7? Could be wrong, not really that much difference in the modern game though IMO

| Well - we have 4 halves for next year with Southernwood as the back-up so plenty of combination options. With Gale & Sammutt as the newest signings I think Jeffries might find himself surplus to requirements if another club makes enquiries. I'm going for one of Gale & Sammutt with Briggs alongside

| I'm sorry but Jeffries was and has always been a stop-gap measure. He is poor full stop.
Briggs has NEVER let anyone down in a Bulls shirt, man of the match for me today, and in my mind it's him and A.N.Other starting in the halves next year

Seem to remember him letting me down when he was crap against Halifax. But i agree that he will get better. I believe Gale and Briggs will start and Sammut will add the spark when needed

| Briggs and Jeffries combined well earlier in the season and Bradford put some good wins together but Potter saw fit to change the combination and bring in Herbert. You have to wonder what could have been.I also think that it won't matter who the halves are if the forwards don't lay the platform first. Getting Le Strange back on the paddock will also help.

| I really like Kyle Briggs and while I think it's easy to overstate the importance of one decision on a whole season I couldn't understand sending him on loan when the incumbant halves were so poor. I know he got injured and whether it would have made any difference anyway is debateable but we simply look a more fluent side with him in it added to the occasional break he makes.
I'd start Briggs and Sammut.

| I would go with Gale and sammut. We have got 4 great half backs here we could do similar to what the giants have done. Sammut can play full back as well and we could move kearney to centre maybe.

| Remember that Briggs never really had a pre-season, he just got signed on the eve of the season from part-time rugby. I think he'll be better with this first season out of the way, and a full pre-season from November.
I thought he looked quite decent at times yesterday. He's not the finished article, but you can see him getting better with more game time - whereas Jeffries is what he is, and he's not going to improve.
I'd be starting with Briggs and Gale. Sammut for impact off the bench and/or covering other back line positions.

| Agreed PW71, though I put Sammut and Gale as first choice half backs on the "2012 squad shaping up like this" thread, Potters talking up of Briggs and the way he has played him, and the way he talked up Sammuts flexibility all point to its Briggs and Gale starting and Sammut impact off bench, Jeffries cover. with the inevitable caveat: subject to preseason etc etc etc.

| I think you can count on one hand the amount of times a back has been on the bench for us this season.
Potter likes to rotate forwards more than backs and with whitehead and walker being competant in both the 2nd row and I won't be expecting anything else next year.

| Phillgee, Bets'y'bulls, whether Sammut is on or off the bench is the least important part of my opinion. what are your thoughts on the important bit, who will be the starting backs next year? Are you saying Sammut instead of Gale or Briggs, or Sammut not playing?
And why assume that Potter will do exactly the same next season as this, given the back line is virtually a new one with two big centres.
And you may see us playing both Sammut and a hooker off the bench next season:
Mick Potter is delighted with the capture:
"Jarrod is going to be of great benefit to us. He's a player who can play nine, six, seven or one and you could perhaps throw him into the centres if you wanted.

I think that we should play Briggs for certain but I don't think there's a stand out candidate for his partner. At the moment I would choose Gale. We'll see during the pre season friendlies I suppose.
Sammut might well make the bench playing all those positions but then that would mean leaving out Diskin or Le'Strange. Big decision.

| thanks PG: I hope that we will not see Sammut off the bench as exchange hooker next season as it will mean injury to Heath and Matt, and Addy or O'Brien have not impressed Potter. But theres a second theme here, aong the lines of "how will Potter play Sammut"? Hes very keen on players covering a number, has he signed Sammut to be a super sub?
Briggs and Gale seem to be the favourites, just. anybody else any thoughts, otherwise I will change "2012 squad shaping up to look like this" to Briggs and Gale, with Sammut reserve.
