The only candidate is Beaver, who was close to MOM against Cats and has surely been THE most influential signing of recent years.

What do people want to see?

Came from a league winning side in NRL to a poorish one in SL and still worked his socks off.
Plays second row and centre with equal quality. Usually in the same game!
Held in high esteem by young players in training for his attention to them.

OK Beaver is great, but he's nearly 50 and won't go on forever. He might decide not to carry on. If not carrying on we have a spot, so we should enquire as a minimum I feel

Irrefutable argument, I'll concede. At the moment, he's saying he's minded to - but its still a long time to the end of this season.

But, whether he plays next season or not, as things stand I would like to see him here with the club.

I'm probably in the give Beaver a new contract camp. We should look to make a bid for someone like Michael Shenton who looks like he could be on the move at the end of the year. I remember reading somewhere that we were keeping a close eye on Richard Owen also.

Beaver is one of our post dangerous players and as good as our junior back row prospects are, they wouldn't fill Menzies boots just yet.

Well yes Shenton and Owen may be targets, but the discussion was about loosing the Beaver in favour of players that would need quota spots

All 3 would be an improvement on current backline, Mateo at 6 would be especially good, he's a real match winner. We don't have any quota spots though do we? Does Nero still take up one, or does he come off it if he resigns? Hope we sign up menzies again for next year.

Pretty sure Mateo is eligeable for England, not sure how that would effect the quota tho.

No quota spots, that's the problem. I think from what people have said that Nero would be off-quota next year? But with the reduction in the quota to five, our slots are full unless someone buggers off back to Oz (I hope not) or Beaver hangs up his boots (the way he has been playing this season, I'd rather he did not).

I've watched that intercept try a few times now. He read the positioning so well, and still had the pace to outrun the chasers. I'm in awe of the guy!

if i was going to lose any quota player it would be Hall! beaver has a place here as long as he wants one in whatever capacity he likes. Lord Mayor Menzies anyone!?!

According to the footy show, Inu is going to sign for the NZ Warriors. We would be stupid to not offer Menzies a new deal, if he wants to play then sign him up.
