| Quote ="mat"what I find quite amusing is that in the official wakefield press release they make a point of mentioning that he only missed 4 games for parramatta yet they dont mention his more recent injury record

I also like how Wakefield are saying that this signing and that of Newton show that they are set to challenge for honours next year. What they don't mention is that the two signings are players who were not offered contracts (or not more than 1 year in Newton's case) by the club 3rd bottom of Super League.

| I just hope we don't have to play Wakefield in the first few matches next season, he'll cause plenty of damage for them if he's playing.
Guess we are now playing the waiting game to see if we're going to recruit quality this time over mediocre stop gap signings. We need some pretty spectacular rebuilding to get back among the top 4/5 clubs and it is hard to see that happening in one off season. I'd settle for a 2/3 more shrewd acquisitions that show we're starting to head back in the right direction.

I thought that aren't they worried that signing players allowed to leave by a team that's third from bottom will turn them into a team of third from bottom players?
Hang on I'm sure I've heard this before somewhere.

The thing is, we've built a club out of mixing a few young un's with a few old un's with a whole load of nobody wants em's - and we seem to be doing OK on it right now.
I mean - Ollie Wilkes / Richard Moore / Ricky Bibey - who'd have em'?

| Just got back from wales, what a great weekend and a lot more bulls fans than I expected.
In my opinion Glenn Morrison was the stand out player for us showing commitment, skill and desire. Whilst I understand the reasons that he is being let go I still have feeling he should have been given another year unless it was purley a finacial decission and we couldn't afford him.
Even after a number of weeks out injured he looked the fittest on the park.

| I don't think a single Bulls fans would argue against Morrison being one of our best players when fit and on the park
The problem is how many games he plays (or doesn't) in a season

I suppose a lot depends with how the squad shapes up for next season.

I agree with that and I thought he was our best player. Deacon also had his first good game for us in ages.

Ha. So you wouldn't give Morrison or Newton an extension?
Being 3rd bottom means diddly squat about the quality of some players in our team. I'd have Richie Myler from the 2nd bottom team in the league.
I'm astounded and disgusted to see that Morrison's being allowed to leave, regardless of his fitness troubles. When he's out on that park he's a better team, fact. He's a leader, a defensive workhorse, and a real clubman.
He will transform Wakefield from "pushing for the play-offs" to "pushing for the top 4".
If we use the money from letting players like Morrison and Newton leave to sign replacements like Chris Thorman, I for one will be telling the club to shove a 2010 season ticket where the sun don't shine.

But Thorman (who I can't see coming) would hardly be a replacement for either Morrison or Newton, now would he? Last I hear he was a halfback.
A nearer candidate would be Glenn Hall, who at least plays in the pack, and isn't half bad, as his NRL GF and WCC rings attest.
And you must see from the club's POV that they can't win this one as equal numbers, at least, have been saying how we MUST offload "the injury prone Morrison" and that Newton is a busted flush.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Exactly. If anything, Thorman would be a replacement for Jeffries.
Morrison being replaced by Hall and Newton by L'Estrange is more accurate.

| Easy to be wise after the event
Come on people. He's had one good game against a team who are, by some distance, the worst in the league. If he was playing week in, week out at that level he would most definitely already be signed up on a new 2 year deal and probably be made captain as well...
But how many games has he played in the last seasons?
If the Bulls had offered him a fresh deal last week, and then he'd got crocked playing against Celtic, I wonder if the same people now saying they are disgusted with the club for getting rid would be coming on complaining that we were keeping someone who is always injured?
Damned if they do, damned if they don't, I would suggest

| I can only see that we are getting rid of him due to quota space for i would take Glenn playing 6 matches for every 12 that Langley plays every single time...that also counts for Worrincey who quite frankly looks like he's never played the game half the time.

Your other problem is that I guess Glenn costs maybe twice (or more) what Langley does, and maybe four times what Worro does?

Can't argue with that I suppose. I will be disappointed if his Quota space isn't used up well on a quality player, or he will indeed be a big loss.

You're probably right but I wouldn't be surprised to see there being a cock-up and us being left with a quota space anyway.

But if he's on four times the money of Worrincy, he'd have to be doing 16 times the amount of work, since he's only playing in one out of every four games
Or something like that
