Well yeah, we do have 'seven tackle sets' (aka free play) in the UK but he had me with pocket referees. I thought it was something about the ref being in some club's pocket..... Just what we need, more Aussie-isms. I still haven't accepted 'field' goal.

| They just follow the play and are stood much closer the ptbs. It should hopefully clear up all these 50/50 calls when the ball comes loose and the ref basically has to guess whether it's a knock on or a penalty.
Eddie actually mentioned during last night's game that you very rarely see those types of situations in the NRL these days, and it's because players can't get away with conning the refs when there's one whose sole focus is the ruck.

| Quote ="DrFeelgood"The NRL commentators are critical of the pocket referee system - it was noticable in the World Cup when they kept banging on about how you don't need two refs on the field. Actually, there's another point there. The RFL just seem to copy whatever the NRL do these days - 7 tackle sets and pocket referees are two recent examples of that.'"
I think the 7 tackle set is a good rule. Stop teams aimlessly kicking the ball dead so encourages better quality kicking. Think the criticism of the pocket ref over there is overdone. If they didn't have it they would soon have the cynical play we have over here. Bring it on along with 8 subs instead of 10 and a shot clock to limit the time taken to take drop outs.
I'd also bring in a rule whereby if the game stops to treat an injured player he must be removed from the field and cannot rejoin the field for three sets. That would cut down on the play acting to get teams a breather.

| Yeah really hope Egodo is fit. If theres a doubt i'd play Oakes, especially with it being his hamstring. Still would have liked Bustin in there. Play how we did last week. We win. Over to you lads.

| I can’t wait for this now. Seeing former players video well wishes online has built up the excitement a bit. Huge game for the club and praying we come out on top.
This week my FB memories brought up my posts from our million pound game appearance. Really didn’t want to see that again and be reminded how I felt at full time!

Bad Apple ? I'm assuming your referring to injuries. I think Bustin has looked very good this season and for the position he plays its only to be expected that he picks up injuries. For me he was brought back too early the other week and didn't look fit. Unless of course the "bad apple" dig refers to something off the field.

| He's been a pro for about 18 months and his 20 years old. Not fair to label him injury prone really.

| Get the chuff in. I'm so glad we beat that bunch of thugs. Don't think I've ever disliked a team as much. Ref out of his depth with zero control. Stuck at it, even during the tense unpleasant times. Really stood up to the bullies. Don't make it easy for ourselves (bloody goal kicks) but well done everyone. Thought Lilley was outstanding and we have Grant on the wing instead of Hitchcox, we don't score any of them. Get Jy signed up.
So happy.
Hope FuiFui gets a long long ban.

| I'm glad that's over. Well played Bulls. Some tense minutes in the first half when we were getting sucked into the niggle. But cam through in the end.
Glad Moi Moi got what he deserved. And they missed Wilkes for the rough stuff.
But we beat them when it mattered. Thought Jy and Lilley were great today and Ross and Flanagan made an impact off the bench. But this is a win for the team, for all of them.
As for Workington, I won't miss them next season if they don't do it next week.

| Soooo happy........put one over the Worky thugs when it mattered. All the team were outstanding today. Even my son, who hadn't been to a match since we fell from Superleague, was impressed by the lads' handling and defence. So much so, that he's talking about season tickets for next year for him and my grandsons.
Thought we bossed the game mostly, but the squeaky bum started again during the second half, when I thought the team started to lose their heads against the Worky messy tactics. We responded well though, and I thought it fitting that MoiMoi saw red towards the end and was sent from the field.
Well done to all involved at the club for a terrific end to a long (sometimes arduous - for speccys ) season. Here's to Championship rugby and local derbies once again.

| I think Swinton won the toin coss and Leon has said that a few of their players have holidays booked for next week.
Can't see Town picking up a win.
I feel sorry for whoever gets picked to ref that game though, Swinton v Workington has potential to be the dirtiest match of RL ever!

A bit harsh on the ref I think. This had the potential to soar right out of control. I believe the ref did as reasonable job and kept it all more or less in check. He was decisive when he needed to be i.e Garside sin bin and Moi Moi sending off. he spoke as well to both captains and I'm sure all this had the effect of keeping the lid on it. Yes there were a couple of flare ups but that was all. Additionally I thought he liaised with his touch judges much more than many refs I have seen this season. I would be interested to hear of other thoughts on this as I suppose I may be out of touch only having supported the game for between 30 & 40 years.

| We turned up when it counted but those missed conversions nearly gave me a heart attack!
Special mention to the defensive efforts of Ethan Ryan. Some great tackles, particularly when they had a 2 on 1 whilst we were down to 12 men. Forced the knock on.
