| Me too. I can't deny that there are huge efforts being made to make it happen though.
A lot of organisations and individuals are working hard on the scheme, and they seem to think it will actually happen.
The question I have always asked is about finance.
Surprisingly the scheme hinted at last night was potentially the biggest one in the history of all the grim list of failed pipe-dreams to have been associated with Odsal.
Where does the money come from? Well perhaps it's more a question of WHEN. 2012 is on the horizon and there is a lot of money swirling around for sports schemes.
The government are making it a top priority to invest in health and community cohesion. Money is available in huge quantities and doesn’t seem to be too affected by the drain in finances in other areas.
Perhaps this is exactly the right time to be coming up with a sports scheme which happens to include a stadium for us. Perhaps schemes that would have been pie in the sky 20 years ago can now actually be realised.
Personally I’ll believe it when I walk through those new gates into a re-generated stadium! I am hopeful though.

| The way Mr Todd from Bradford college was selling the OSV last night at the FF was that it would be a large sporting and educational centre which would have facilities for all members of the bradford community and there would also be a professional sport team stadium along with it. I think that's what just might swing it for us in that it's not asking for money to give a private investor something for them and them alone.
I still hold tight to my reservations regarding Odsal redevelopment but I do think there's a light at the end of the tunnel

| Not directly relevant to this thread but I see the Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Carnegie (nee Leeds Met) is to leave. I'm not sure what effect that will have in the massive investments they have put into Headingley.

| As ever it will all come down to finance and in the current climate there isn't much of that around, even if one takes into account stuff for 2012.
I'll do some digging at work with the DCMS rep and see if there's anything in the pipeline.

| wonder if its pertinent that theres talk of a rail link at low moor again? Would certainly make things easy for visiting supporters and people using any other facilities provided.

| Yorkshire Forward seem desperate to throw money around at the moment. I think the government are pressing funding agencies to try & stimulate the economy & bring funding forward. Not sure whether OSV would attract anything.

| It would certainly create short term (2-3 year) building jobs and I'd imagine a fair few longer term sport and leisure type jobs.

| I csuppose you could put a totally unnecessary runway parallel with the 606, the Government would throw money at that.

| It's not in our control though is it? The council tell the club it will be soon and they can only take their word on that.

theres a 12 page bulls supplement in wednesdays t&a. Including a message to the fans from the chairman. Wonder if this is related to the ground? surely it will at least state the current position.

| The other night I dreamt I went to the OSV's opening game and all they'd done is built a weird lattice-like roof over the popular side. Pre-match entertainment was singing by Old Gregg from the Mighty Boosh and John Harkes, formerly of Sheffield Wednesday. Harkes was singing 'Odsal is Dry', to the tune of 'Scotland is Dry'. Don't worry if you've never heard of it because it doesn't exist.

| Well - the feasability study now has a point man. The company he works for seems to be well qualified, experience with other large projects. whats this though - 4th/5th feasibility study? do they have to a fresh one every time the plans change a bit?. With all the money the council have wasted on feasibility studies they could have put a roof on pop side

As I said above, I feared that any new design would lead to another feasibility study and more delay.
However before long enough studies will have been completed whereby every possible design and plan will have been covered so a new way to prevaricate will need to be thought of.

| Peter Hood and Ronnie Todd at the fans forum both stated that a feasibility study would be undertaken so it's no great surprise.

Never mind the roof, they could have built the Westfield stadium in the city centre.
