| Having just watched the game tonight I can say it was not good for the ex Saints players. Emmett looked like a fat flopper Ashurst was not at the races at all Dixon was average to say the least and as for Gaskell he was like Dusty Hare all he didn't do was call for the mark! he really is not up for the back bending stuff and he was the best out of the four.
If I was a Salford fan I would be concerned also at who was in the dressing room at half time they did not show a head shot but had the same colour jumper that was worn by the good Doctor, that would be a dangerous precedent.
Lets hope they are as bad when we play them.

| Koukash won't last the season. He's too temperamental and it's going to end badly for Salford, probably in them going out of existence.
I think Super League next season will have two new clubs.

Name me a Salford player who was.
I would imagine all of them bar Theo Fages (who has just signed a 2 year deal) are anxious about their futures. However, I have seen the whole team play better than they did this evening and it may be that Nobby's style isn't helping them. He's certainly killed off the attacking flair Longy had introduced, which is a real shame.

He gave a different take on things before the match though, stating he was in it for the long haul.
I think Koukash is an emotional bloke. He identifies with the fans and so gets upset when they are let down. He isn't buried in rugby league like so many involved in the sport and so he will react differently to what we are used to. I think he's great, although he probably needs to back off with the 'you'll be sacked in the morning' approach as I don't think it's having the desired effect!

Fages is a good little player. Is he still 18-19? He'll turn into a cracker.
To be fair, Williams had a decent run out.
The Wakey pack, especially Amor and Kirmond tore them to shreds up the middle. Salford's defence was woeful, everytime Tim Smith picked a pass and Kirmond hit a line, they were in danger of breaking through.
If we don't put a big score on them, there's something up.
The Saints lads were far fromt he worst performers. Ryan McGoldrick is so bad, he's like the Salford Lance Hohaia.

Agree on both counts. I can see why Salford have already re-signed Fages. He's a natural.

Oh no. Hohaia is better than McGoldrick! He was embarrassing last night.

| I feel the Dr will give it a fair chance, no way pull out after less than one season, two new clubs next season, how could they possibly survive it would make Super League look more a farce than it is, very few clubs in the championship have any money and most are struggling.
Typical Sky this morning on the news channel sports bulletin only showed the ref head cam of the brawl how pathetic! at least BBC News 24 showed some tries.

In Salford's case I would imagine it was desperation. They simply didn't have enough bodies left at the club due to almost becoming defunct. He won't last past this season at Salford.

That was the MEN taking a little bit of what he said and turning the headline into something 'sensational'. He was actually saying the opposite.

He's just 18 and signed a five year deal in the off season. It's about the only decent thing the Club did under the previous administration.
The only plus for us is that most of the deadwood we are forced to play will be gone at the end of the season. This current crop are what's left over and without a pre-season and uncertainty over the Clubs future it's a miracle we have any points at all. Most Salford fans see this season as an extended pre-season for next year. It's simply impossible for us to compete with the leftovers and no pre-season.

I found that funnier than I should have.
I must admit, I'm inclined to agree. He strikes me as something of a plastic Stalin.
If I was a high profile star or a promising youngster I would need some serious persuading to join Salford. Aside from the issue that I'd be joining a club at the bottom of the league with sub 3k attendances, I'd be concerned at the prospect of getting sacked if my performances were not instantly up to the evidently unrealistic standards expected by someone with no background in the game. I'd also be wary of the possibility of said someone jumping ship when Salford don't go from 14th to 1st in one season, and leaving me stuck at a club that can't afford to pay my wages.
I can't see Salford making any sustainable progress unless he chills out and accepts that it's going to take a few years before Salford are steadily competitive, never mind a top 4 side.

That sacking was perfectly justified. He had a much better squad on paper in his previous season but he still couldn't get wins. He was supposed to be the defensive coach and yet Salford couldn't defend under him.

Don't talk stupid!
Do you know that Vievers couldn't do a pre season as he had no players, they even had to call a pre-season friendly off because they didnt have 17 players.
While all the on field problems of trying to get a squad together to even have a team, they also wasnt getting paid! Yes that's right, the players, coaches and other staff wasnt getting paid!
The players was looking for other clubs to join.
Yes the sacking was justified! (Not)

| I felt a bit sorry for Veivers, it seemed harsh to get rid of him after only 5 games - especially since he stuck with us through all the financial problems, and the Shaun McRae/Matt Parrish lark. Maybe he could've done better though when we had the likes of Holdsworth, Patten and Smith. And losing 38-4 at home to London He was probably gonna go anyway at the end of this season too, along with maybe a mass change of players. Why wait 'til then to replace him if you can get the replacement you want in much earlier.
This season was always going to be a write-off. I'm saving any proper judgement of Koukash and Noble until well into next season.

If you mean Venky's at Blackburn FC then quite the opposite is true, not least because Dr Koukash is not living a world away and he is very hands-on.
Dr Koukash,it transpires,is personal friends with Chalmers and Graham Lowe in New Zealand as well as with your owner McManus.
The sacking of Veivers was,in my opinion, wrong,as it was for his friend Noble to jump into his shoes, but after last night my one worry is,for stability and continuity purposes,if the shelf life of a head coach is 5 yrs at a club ( John Kear ) will the 2 relatively inexperienced assistant coaches take over down the line ?
Dr Koukash believes Veivers would not have attracted big-name signings to the club - despite his friendship with Meninga and being the brother-in-law of Wayne Bennett.
It is a little harsh to judge him on his signings as he had 'no money' due to the fact the club was hurtling towards oblivion. The quality players he had were already aboard the lifeboats queueing alongside the SS Salford.

Phil Vievers sacking was justified in that the results at the back end of last season were terrible (when Salford actually had a decent 17) they got worse this season and he made three of the worst overseas signings in the history of Super League in Ryan McGoldrick, Vic Mauro and Liam Foran.
Those doubting Koukash will be left with egg on their faces come next season. An announcement is to be made on August 9th regarding new signings for next season when it is expected Koukash is to confirm at least 6 new signings (including a couple from St Helens).
